Winter Scarves

I made these for the Winter Scarf Swap, my swap partner (Nikki / sfgwife) received them last week...

This one was in a tencel blend which was very silky and quite soft...I was going to crochet the navy and the gray mohair together but I ended up with a very stiff fabric and I thought it ruined the feel of the navy yarn, so I just edged the scarf in the gray.

It's a very simple 'pattern', 25 chain for the width and then endless rows of dc (sc) until the length is right and then one round of dc (sc) in the mohair (two strands) for the border. I like it with the sequins.

The second one is a ruffle scarf (I used the pattern in "Essential Crochet" by Erika Knight but I modified it slightly, since I used a fine yarn and she used a thicker one in the book).

Thanks for the replies :) Thanks also to Janet for running the swap :) I had a lot of fun with it.

Nikki, I hope they both keep you warm through Winter!

I imagine there are many patterns available for the ruffle scarf, I saw a few in some books I looked at recently and I am sure there are free patterns, too.

That pattern is very nice :) LionBrand also has two free patterns for something similar to the ruffle scarf, using their Moonlight Mohair but I can't see why any other yarn wouldn't work!

Michelle they look fab! I never would have thought to add sequins, I think they make something that could have been plain and drab pretty and interesting, even chic!

Shell, I wasn't sure I would be able to figure out the sequins (not a seamstress!!) but it was very easy :) It did look a bit boring without them - a nice, useful scarf but not very exciting.
