poncho

Well, after many good intentions and lots of frogging sessions, I have finally finished my very first piece of clothing. It's Stitch Diva's Floral Mini Poncho. I have always wanted to make a poncho but (a) I never liked any of the patterns I saw and (b) wasn't sure if I was actually a "poncho person" in the first place.

But I'm glad I got over it, because even though it's not the best, I'm certainly proud of myself for sticking something long enough to actually finish it. I think I made and frogged enough rows to make 6 ponchos but in the end, this is what I finished with. I used Lion Brand Micro Spun, and although I think it was a bit thick held together, it ended up okay.

I apologize in advance for the crappy picture. I had no idea idea it was so hard to take a picture of yourself!

I don't know why my picture is not loading so here's the page its at: http://static.flickr.com/81/228532883_b1e413881f.jpg

Wow! Thanks guys! I've already worn it twice and am planning on making one in a "natural" or khaki color. Like most things I do, it takes a looong time for me to figure out how to do something, but once I do, it's a piece of cake and I can do it again quickly.

Thanks especially go to vhanna26 for letting me view the CAL for this poncho's archived messages. I never would have completed this would all those ladies advice! Thanks!

Dear Lulubird6. Your poncho looks great! Just wondering what size hook you ended up using?:think

I'm trying to make one myself and am already up to a size P crochet hook in order to get the correct gauge (3 base "petals" = 7"). BTW I am an experienced crocheter! I don't know why I am having so much trouble with this one. I usually am "spot on" with crochet gauge.

A fine job indeed. I am a bit envious-- mine is in eternal frog doom. I have not done even 10 rows without being interrupted or distracted. I suspect that if the poncho was not for myself it would be finished in record time. For a first project--it's super that you chose "classic" black, you'll get lots of wear out of it. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
