I'm out of room!!

Recommended Posts

I just bought the yarn to make my 4 year old's afghan (they're each getting a rectangle granny ghan in their choice of colors for Valentine's Day), got it home, and realized my (four) yarn bins are full! And these are 18 gallon bins so they aren't small! And one of those projects is tucked in an under the bed storage bin because it's current and doesn't fit comfortably in the other bins. AND I have almost 10 more pounds coming in a few days from some ebay auctions.

I found myself stashing the bag under the bed ... my dh would freak if he knew I bought MORE yarn, lol. This is only since October ... I need to go on a yarn challenge (anyone ever done a pantry? freezer? fridge? challenge - same kind of idea, lol).

We'll be overrun by yarn if I keep this up. I didn't realize JUST how addicting it is ... I never understood why my mom (an avid knitter) always had tons upon tons of yarn.

Now ... I do.

I'm currently on a NO New Yarn buying challenge :( It's difficult but I need to do it.I haven't bought any new this year allthough I exchanged some fun fur at walmart for some baby yarn for charity projects. In March the charity along will be doing blankets and I'll be making them for shelter animals so I'll use up alot of my stash.

I have to do this because I tend to get overwhelmed :ohdear somedays I'll start on something and not like it and hunt forever for another pattern then I have to find the right yarn :th :loco Then I never get anything made :worried

Edited for spelling I can not help myself :P I can't stand to see my mistakes:rolleyes

I totally know what you mean. I just started a few months ago and need more plastic bins already and I have 22 pounds coming from an E-bay buy. Crochetville should have put up a warning sign, very addicting :rotfl (But :)h every minute of it) My husband just shakes his head.

I went through the ebay thing. :) I can sympithize. I filled a cupboard down in the sewing room and have a bit more in my room. I really have to excerize self control right now because I can't hold anymore. I am going through and using it all up! And the cupboard is slowly emptying out. Now, it might be a bit easier for me because I don't have the funds to buy more yarn right now. I need to make some more sales first. But I had to really concentrate on using up what I had. :) Let us know how you do!

Oh ladies....I don't even know where to begin :thinking2

Just to start I have 39 skeins of LB chunky. That's one box. I have 6 more file boxes stuffed full. I have an entire closet in my bedroom(the one's that have the 2 folding doors and the 3 different rods for shirts, dresses and pants) FULL. Then I have 2 cardboard chest of drawers FULL and two baskets full. AND I bought more today. :help

I just can't help myself. I love yarn!

Plus I'm going to start doing craft shows this year, so I have lots to make!

:knit

I haven't taken a picture because I don't want there to be any evidence of it laying around.:blush

I guess I feel a touch better, lol ... I'm just astounded that I've managed to collect that much in just 3 or 4 months. We don't have the space to add that much again over the same period of time.

Elizabeth ... I must say I have yarn envy. You have some beeeauuuuutiful stuff!! And it all looks so tidy too!

WOW!!! :faint

Y'all have alot more yarn stashed than I do. Now I truly feel like a novice in the presence of mast.. err... mistresses :hee To confess, I gave a large box of yarn (RH) to a friend who knits about 2 months ago... it was given to me and I didn't care for the colors. Isn't re-gifting great? :D! That and most of the yarns I love to work with are expensive so I get sticker shock. I love eBay, but I have to give myself an eBay allowance because there's so much to buy. :blush

mmouseplus.gifThe first pic is the Wall o' Fiber in my bedroom. The shelf is 78 inches tall and 37 inches wide. The second pic is the Fiber Room (formerly known as the Living Room). It's three of the shelves and is 78 inches tall and 111 inches wide.

We are still working on the shelf at the right. Some of it is being used as a reference library although we do have another set of cubbies that are 5" x 6" for that. You can see the spinning wheel, Esmerelda, and the loom on the right. On the far left are three smaller wads of roving that were black tea, green tea and coffee dyed. They are with the original color of the roving in between the two big balls of dark roving.

This is what happens when two fiber addicts with no one to hide their stash from, live together! :rotfl

Oh, well, see? Sampler Lady had the best idea of all! LOL!

I only have one large plastic storage bin, plus two of my big hat boxes, full of yarn. Still, it's hidden away, because I'm sure dh wouldn't understand why I need as much as I have. Just wait until I start that 63 Squares CAL!

Ok, I understand about the stashes (son moved out, so I have all my wonderful yarn in a single room!), but what is a DH? Dumb husband? Had to get rid of mine, he just didn't understand...... :blah

WOW! I would love to have everything out where I can see it and touch and just sit and gaze longingly at it. Maybe I should make a panic room in my house that only I know about so I can just lie the walls with it!:yay2

Marvie - I had to laugh. :) That was funny.

And OMG Beth and SamplerLady! That is a LOT of yarn. :)

I have a pitiful three drawer rubber maid thing full. And I thought that was a lot! It's mostly left over scraps that my good friend gave me a few years ago when she went through her stash. Lots of little pieces and scraps - not much that co-ordinates or is big enough to make a project. BUT, I keep it.

WOW, I'm so jealous!!!! My stash is mostly scraps too. but I have a few skeins. I just got two rubbermaid bins and i have a 3 drawer thingy. I asked my boyfriend to build me some shelves for my thread and I need to get some more plastic bins. They work pretty well since I don't need access to the yarn EVERY day!

Oh yeah, and Sampler Lady....You have the Disney TV And DVD...I am SO SO SO SO SO jealous!!!!

Wow! I'm impressed too! Nice organization guys!:cheer2

I have a huge rubbermaid tote that's about 4' tall, 3'long, and 2' wide. its full, almost can't close the darn thing. Filled with left over skeins and projects that I will never finish and hopefully will frog and reuse.

Then I have a tall 7 drawer thingie that's full. And 3 other 17 gallon rubbermaid totes that are full too. Plus there is yarn stashed in random drawers/places all around the house :lol I'm trying not to buy any new yarn and use up my stash as well.

Hmm, maybe I'll join the 382,411 square crochet along?:bad

I am going to be in trouble soon about my yarn -- I'm about to be caught. :sweat My son has been on a church mission for two years and is about to return home to go to college here. His room is now my "sewing room". I have a cutting table set up in there and a closet full of yarn and fabric. I can hear my husband now! :eek2

I am thinking he needs to share a room with his 16-year-old brother. :ha I am THRILLED to have him home again, but I don't want to give up his room!

I have to deal with this soon as he is coming home in 5 weeks and I have surgery before he comes home. :th
