An Irish Cape for my mother-in-law for Christmas--DONE!

Hi all, I finally finished this sucker (it took me a month and a half) and it's good to go to the mom-in-law. It hangs a bit stiff at the moment, and I'm expecting it'll loosen up once it's washed and laid out to dry. The neckline also looks a bit off because I have yet to sew the toggle on to close it (I'm making it out of FIMO to match--that's the next project).

I used this pattern: http://www.freepatterns.com/fp_pdfs/Other/Crochet/Irish_Cape_Scarf.pdf

I'm not going to make the scarf that goes with it, but it was a fairly simple pattern to follow. I did end up cutting a pile of rows from the back otherwise it would have been gigantic. I'm guessing my tension is a lot looser than that of the model. The finished product is quite heavy (about 20 lbs) and thick, it's going to be a good warm sweater for those winter runs to the outhouse at the lake :)

Anyhow, here it is:

Looks great!! I too have the pattern saved; should have made one up when we were out west. It would have been good for those cold WY winters...

Outhouse, yep! The in-laws own a cabin in Southern Ontario on a lake, and they go there year 'round. There isn't any indoor plumbing as there is no running water and nowhere to vent the sewage that isn't into the lake. So, they have a very nice outhouse (as does all of their neighbors). In the winter, I thought this cape would keep her warm enough for the run from door to door. :)
