  1. Hi Everyone, Just make sure there are 23 dc's on each side of the square. If you are going to sc the squares together, it will be easier to join so you won't have to fudge it. Some of my squares are off but I attribute that to the yarn, since I'm using many different colors. I am going to add a round of granny type stitches around each square and join that way. PaganBaby69
  2. Hi Evelyn, Here is what I told Julie about square 19: Hi Julie, Forget 19 the way they said to do it. It's stupid. This is what you do, crochet #1. Now do a sl st and a ch 4 around the stitch junctions between round 1 and round 2. You'll have (sl st, ch 4) around. You should wind up with 8 chains. Do the same thing between the stitch junctions of round 3 and 4. You'll wind up with 24 chs. But I sometimes get 22, or 23. It doesn't matter, as the look is exactly the same but much easier. I have 2 more squares left and will post the last of my photos tomorrow. I am going to do a black granny type border around each square to pop the colors. PaganBaby69
  3. Hi, I agree, 12" is too wide. You're making the Victorian Dream square? maybe knock-off the last 2 rounds. Try a smaller hook or a thinner yarn, too. That might help. PaganBaby69

  6. Hi Necia, When you get to the yarn dept., hold up a skein of dark blue next to every light color there. Something will jump right at you! PaganBaby69
  7. Hi Linda, I have the first edition of this this book, so the error has been corrected in the newer edtions. That's good!!! Paganbaby69
  8. Hi Julie, What they want you to do is to gather the loops together from the rows below, insert your hook in the "air space" below the line of chains to butt it up together. It's like a spider stitch. Paganbaby69
  9. I'm using Red Heart worsted 4 ply and an H hook. I'm also using up scraps, but the afghan on the cover has 2 colors. You could also make it in one light color. You'll need 3 super savers in a light color( Main Color-MC) and 2 skeins of Super Saver in a darker color (Contrasting color-CC) PaganBaby69
  10. Hi, If you look closely at the photos on the cover of the AA book, you will see that the pillow is a magic square. There is also a red item that is on the left hand side that is a magic square. The diagonal is on the front, but you can turn it over for the smooth side. As far as afghans go, perhaps she made it with a sport yarn to make it less weighty. Make a small sample with a starting chain of 9, Ch 9, sc in 2nd ch from the hook, and in each rem ch. Working on opp side, sc in each ch---you will have 8 sc on one side and 8 sc on the other for a total of 16. Now sc in each sc, for a few rounds, test to see if it makes a square by pulling the open on a diagonal. Works the rounds until it pulls square. 11. Hi, The capelet turned out great! Now I want one!!! PaganBaby69
  12. Hey Julie, I'm keeping this one because it's taking BRAIN POWER to combine colors that look good and to limit myself to the colors I have in this one room only. I need 35 solids and one neutral. I happen to have 2 SS's in black so that will be the neutral. What is shocking to me is that I have the 35 solids!!!! PaganBaby69
  13. Hi, Make sure you do square 27 in your contrast color. The pattern has an error. Paganbaby69
  14. Hi Julie, Even the one with the popcorns go fast. I just made that witha green variegated center and a deep red border. The one I always have to re-do is #26 because I don't pat attention to the corner dc's. But on the photo I posted, I gave the hints. I haven't posted # 19 yet, but I have a hint for that one too. Glad that were officially starting. PaganBaby69
