Filet and Flower Crochet Shawl

During my first trip to a Hobby Lobby store, I picked up 5 skeins of I Love This Yarn in pink sparkle - it has a nice silver thread running through it, and I thought it might make a nice shawl. I'm going to be attending my niece's destination wedding in South Carolina and hoped to finish the shawl before I leave Well, I did get finished. It's an open-work filet, with a wide shell border which makes it a little frilly. In honor of the fact that my niece is getting married in an arboretum, I added some crocheted flowers to it.

I wore my shawl to my niece's wedding. I didn't wear it as shown, but wanted to show the flower applicques on it. The wedding was fantastic - weather was great until the group was gathered under the outdoor canopy for the reception. A little rain came and went and all had a great time!

The yarn has a silver thread running through it. It isn't overly sparkly - just gives a little shimmer in the light.
