Introduce yourself, the blurb said. So here I am.

Last week I grabbed one of those how to crochet type books and followed a few of the directions there. The book wasn't a very good match for the way I learn, but at least it got me going.

With a bit of experimenting I made sample swatches that decreased even though they weren't supposed to, and increased because I had to figure out a way to fix it. I found out how to curve things by mistake - oops! - and played with that effect to make a miniature hat and a little bag. And you know what? This crochet stuff is incredibly addictive.

I've been looking at crochet websites and a few better books, and I'm busy trying to figure it all out. I know three or four stitches now. I have crochet mysteries to solve, patterns to inspire, and a very long list of what I want to learn.

So that's where I am, crochet-wise. As far as location goes, I'm currently in Vancouver, Canada, but will soon be moving to an island that's between Vancouver and Vancouver Island.
