Yea, Cara

We had a hurt bird in our yard the other day. I made the neighbor guy come over and pick him up and move him. He was laying right in front of my front door . He put him over in the bushes in our side yard so I went out and talked to him . (the BIRD,not the neighbor )

After about 4 hours, he probably wishes he would have gone about 80 mph faster into our picture window.

He would have been out of his misery faster that way than having to listen to ME ramble on and on til he drew his last breath .

I bet he is the first bird in History who WANTED a cat to come and eat him .

:rofl :rofl :rofl

Julie you crack me up. Why do I read these at lunch time at work. I have to laugh quietly so no one thinks Im a total idiot.

OK... Cara and others. I have a technique for joining the squares that requires LESS end-weaving and gives you better color results. I figured this out a while ago, but you seemed to all have a good way. Thought someone might like my way anyhow.

You need to work these on one at a time, but you do so using slip stitch and do NOT break off your thread. I am SO not going to be able to explain it well enough, but I will try...

Always use the lighter of the two (or three, etc) colors of yarn to join squares. If you've got a brown and a tan square to join, do the brown and completely finish it off. Do the tan and then DO NOT finish it off. Use sl st or whatever you need (sorry, Cara - don't have your square in front of me to tell how to get there exactly) to get yourself into the corner. THEN you put the two squares right sides together and sl st in the inside loops only to join the two squares. This method works really well if you are using the same color to join multiple surrounding squares, because you simply keep on going.

The only catch is that you have to (A) have your adjoining squares already made up before the square you're going to join it to, and (B) it requires a bit of thought to make sure you get all the sides of all the squares joined with the right color. But if you can do that, you have a LOT less ends to weave, and it is not a huge pain to have different colors for your joining.

Poor Mary

Those summer colds are worse than the winter ones. It makes you feel even worse when it's so hot out .

Cara- I like how you add the crochet time in as therapy for her recovery ! :lol

Always makes me feel better when I'm sick :hook

Yes, we have Target and ours doesn't sell yarn either. Never have understood that :no But of course I don't know why everyone doesn't sell yarn. BTW I went to Spotlight's web site the other day. That looks like one cool store!

As for what I'll have this week, I will actually have at least the three blocks I have done of my Windwalker lapghan. With a little luck it'll be all four. Almost have the squares all done then just the stitching and probably a border of squares :yes I'm thrilled to be close to finishing something else. But today it Gnora. She's still a rudey nudey as Wendy calls her :lol

If we had Spotlights I'd be in there every chance I got as well. I'd have to send whoever drove off for a few hours so I could see everything :manyheart

35 years ago I lived in St.Louis, Missouri - that's when I taught myself to crochet - and discovered Target's YARN DEPARTMENT!!! Unfortunately, that's not the case any longer. Even Kmart used to sell yarn... I think all these stores are missing out on a sure thing:yes

Judy,

Our Kmart (26 miles away in Lebanon, New Hampshire) just started carrying yarn again after years of not carrying any, (when I was a kid my gram used to get her yarn there.)

Yea, our Kmart used to have yarn back in the 70's,maybe early 80's .

They did have a knitting needle in there the other day, which surprised the life out of me.

They probably found it laying under the shelving since 1982 .
