The sweater that turned into a cowl. It also flips up like a hood.

Hello Jenn,

How nice your scarf and cowl are, my sister and I are into cowls right now. Could you let me know if there is a pattern out there for the cowl. Maybe a link to the pattern will help.

I also would like information on your scarf, I like it alot.

Thank you,

Y.Marie

I love cowls!

The cowl started off as a sweater/pullover. The pattern I started w/ is from The Chicks with Sticks Guide to Crochet Esprit Pullover.

chunky weight yarn/size K hook(not P! oops!)

Pattern(from the book for front of pullover):

ch 75 very loosely

Row1 dc in 4th ch from hook, 1 dc in next ch.

*Ch 3, sk next 3 chs, 1 dc in each of next 3 chs*

Repeat from *to* across to last 4 chs.

Ch3, sk next 3 chs, work 1 dc in last ch.

Row 2 Ch3 and turn. Sk first dc, 2 cd in next ch-3 sp.

*Ch2, sk next 3 dc, 3 dc in next ch-3 sp*.

Repeat from *to* across to last 2 dc. Ch3, sk next 2 dc,

dc in t-ch.

Repeat Row 2 until panel measures appr. 19" from beginning.

I just sewed buttons to join the ends. No button wholes required.

Very, very cute! I really love the scarf! May I ask what pattern you used?

No pattern. But it was something like this:

ch 100

dc across for 6 rows

popcorn stitch for 1 row

HTH!:)

Jenn,

Oh wow! Thanks for letting me know how you made the cowl. I do have a P hook and homespun yarn, I'm going to try making your cowl.

I see that your scarf isn't very complicated and glad that you mentioned you made popcorn stitches for 1 row, I was wondering if that was a ruffle but now I know it's not.

Thank you,

Y.Marie

Oh shoot! I used K not P. Sorry! Big difference there. I was starting my new project with a K and remembered. :eek

Hello Jenn,

Thank you for letting me know you used hook size K instead of P, but I already made your scarf with a P hook and homespun yarn. It came out very nice and it will be a birthday gift for my niece. It almost took a whole skien of that yarn. Sorry I don't have a camera to show my work, I wish I did.

Thanks,

Y.Marie
