  • If you love these beautiful ladies like I and some others do,

  • If you're scared to work with #10 thread and a size 7 or 8 steel hook, and

  • If you're worried about the blocking,

We'll help you!

You will be so pleased and proud of your accomplishments. Really, it's not very difficult.

If you search for crocheted crinolines, you'll probably come up with some old patterns dated back in the 40's or 50's, maybe even older. Look for the thread size and hook size called for in the pattern. I've noticed that just about all of them call for size 20 or size 30 thread and that is finer than size 10. We have threadies here on the Ville who crochet with thread that is about as fine as sewing thread :eek. Can you believe it? Maybe some of you are fine threadies.

Here are a few freebies. Be sure to note the size thread and hook required in the patterns. http://www.learn-how-to-crochet.com/motif.html

Here is a link to my all time favorites: http://www.crochetmemories.com/patterns/dollmenu.php

Most of the patterns are $2.45, some are $2.40 and some are $2.50. She uses size 10 thread in all her patterns and a size 8 steel hook. I make mine with a size 7 and they turn out just fine.

At Maggie's Crochet:

I'm still looking for more and will update this post when I find 'em.

Anyone posting, feel free to post any links you know of and any helpful information.

Let's create some beautiful works of art!

Additional Information on Crochet Memories patterns: Cylinda Mathews is the owner of Crochet Memories and gives exceptional personal service. She also offers a Crochet Club, which is a way to buy multiple patterns at a savings to you. Here is the link to the information: http://www.crochetmemories.com/club.php. Down almost at the bottom of the page is a drop down menu that shows the club categories. For example, you can select 5 patterns for $10--that's $2 per pattern. It has increments of 10, 15, 20 and 25 patterns. You say, Whoa, 25 patterns is a lot! But with the 25 pattern choice, each pattern is only $1.25. That's how I got nearly all of her crinoline patterns (I selected some other patterns as well). In all the categories, you have 12 months in which to choose your patterns. Just be sure to read the info at the above link. Can you tell I'm hooked on her? She has become a very good email friend to me.

I love the Crinoline Ladies also and have made a lot of them. Count me in. I may be slow in starting as we are having remodeling done on the house and I can hardly walk thru it, much less get to my crocheting!!! If I can figure out how to do it will post some of my "Ladies" pictures.

This sounded really cute, so I checked Crochet Pattern Central. They have listed 2 doily-type ladies and one actual doll. If this CAL is for the doily-type then I am definitely in!

Terrific! I was so excited to see all your responses! Would you all mind sharing your first name? To me, it's friendlier that way. But if you'd rather not, that's perfectly all right. I understand.

:welcome Welcome agmom!

:welcome Welcome amhmsh!

:welcome Welcome _Stacy_!

Stacy, could you please post the links for us for the two doily-type ladies and the doll at CPC?

There are now plenty of crinolines to look at. See post #1.

Be sure to check the first post for more information and links to patterns. Unfortunately, there aren't many free patterns available for crinolines.

Did you check the first post? The patterns at Crochet Memories are very reasonable. Most are $2.45, some are $2.40 and others are $2.50. These are download prices, which IMHO is the only way to go. She offers downloads in Word or PDF.

I did just post a link for a free pattern in the first post. It's http://www.learn-how-to-crochet.com/motif.html

It calls for size 20 thread and a 1.25mm hook (size 10 is 1.3mm) but I imagine you could make it with size 10 thread and a size 7 or 8 steel hook. It would just be bigger. At the link it gives you ideas as to what you can do with it. I was thinking I could decorate a plain tote bag with one of these, that is if it doesn't turn out too big. And then I could just use it as a doily or mount it somehow to display it on a wall.

I do hope you will give it a try. :yes

I might like to try one but need a freebee one. Any of those around that look nice and super easy? Or not. Well maybe next time.

I love these ladies, I have wanted to make one, but just haven't gotten around to it. I'm joining, I think I have a few of these patterns somewhere. I will have to look tomorrow on my day off and figure out which one to make. This is going to be fun!!

Loopy1 inspired me to make a crinoline girl and to take up thread in fact. Helped me through it in the games too. I am in for blocking mine, lol, and I may make another one. Times are tight now for me, so I will have to see if funds will allow a new one or two, but I was thinking of making the one I made again in purples. The blue one will go to my friend who is marrying this month. I thought you needed two colors for it but one would have been fine. It was miss frost or something like that.

I saw the bday packs and another group pack just for the dolls too. Looks like fun!

:cry Aww, Angie. Please come back whenever you can. We'll always enjoy seeing ya!

:welcomeLaVonne!

:welcomeHeather!

:welcomeLaura! was gonna pm ya if you didn't show up soon :lol

Ya know what I was thinking last night while making a quickie snowflake that Miss Frost would look good in the white/silver metallic thread with silver/silver for the 2nd color.

Stacy, thanks for the links! That crinoline doll dress is gorgeous! :hug

The two for guest towels -- I wonder if they'd work out okay with #10 thread and a size 7 hook. Might give 'em a try. I don't want to put 'em on towels.

I still have 2 as WIPs right now, though. I need some black/gold for Crochet Memories Spanish Senorita and can't find any in this town! :angry And to order it on the web, I'd pay more for shipping than for the thread! Well, unless I buy more merchandise :devil.

Excellent choices! Of course, I think they're all excellent! Red & Purple is a WIP right now as is Spanish Senorita which I already mentioned. I used Cream for the Red & Purple dress and am waiting for the right shade of pink to come in at Hobby Lobby for the 2nd color. That is a gorgeous pattern.

I think I finished Spring Time. Did it in variegated pastels; forgot what the 2nd color is.

I've made the Rose Garden twice. Once in the same colors Cylinda used and the 2nd time for a good friend here at the Ville, Vicki aka mythunderbird, in red, white and blue. Turned out nice!

Haven't made Pineapple Calico yet and don't have the runner pattern yet. Wanna make Miss Mum next.

I need to post the pics of the ones I made.
