This pattern would be a good introduction to filet because the pattern will spell it all out for you.

if you are 'serious' about getting into filet crochet I would encourage you to go to About dot com. Sandi Marshall has as good a guide to filet as I have seen anywhere.

her "tutorial" is quite extensive and covers several pages at About. She uses lots of photos too.

I've been looking for a pattern for my friend who is having a baby girl. That pattern would look so cute in a soft pink or yellow. I have never done filet...I guess I am now! She'll be having her baby in July, so I better start now!

Well, Darski mentioned a teddy bear, Threadlover said she had a duck. I think this is the kitty pattern I was thinking of, it could be translated to filet

This might be the teddy bear Darski was thinking of?

crochetpattern central has some other critters, you'd just need to make sure that all the motifs had the same grid count. That's the fun thing about filet, all you need is some graph paper to get really creative. :)

I just noticed who is the designer of that pattern...Zelda Workman. Strange thing is...I just purchased some crochet magazines from her off Ebay and she asked me what type things I like to crochet. I had no idea she had patterns out here in print! Now I wonder what other patterns she has out here. Just goes to show you, it is a small world!

I saw that bunny blanket on their site a few days ago and I really want to make it! I've never tried filet crochet so i thought it would be a good way to learn. I went to walmart and I saw the same color yarn that they used and I had to stop myself. I have to finish some of my WIP before I start anything new or I am going to be in big trouble.
