Two squares down!

I found both on CPC

The first is the Circles on the Square pattern. This is the first square I've ever done so be kind! I need to block it to see if it will straighten out. If not, I'll redo it.

The 2nd is the Waldo's Puzzle square. That turned out to be not as scary as I thought it would be. I'm pretty happy with it.

Both are Dark Plum and Orchid, the teal is Spruce.

holly - i think they both look great!! and you'd be surprised to see how much joining will straighten out those pesky squares. you might wait to hear from chelle and see if she thinks it will be necessary.

i'm only 1 square complete -

plain 'ol granny :blush

Oh yes, joining squares definately helps with the pesky ones that refuse to straighten out! The squares look great!! I really like the waldo's puzzle square! Granny squares are Always great to have too. Everyone is doing a beautiful job on their squares! My squares will be in Orchid and Light Plum, I have a couple more rounds to do on the first square (it's 10" so far) then I will post a pic of it.

That Waldo Puzzle Square was really cool! I wouldn't mind doing a hole afghan with that pattern and color! I thought of doing one with a rose on one Rebecca, but I like traditional granny squares. I've finished three squares and will post a picture tomorrow. I'm to tired tonight!

Julie & Rebecca,

I forgot to say how much I like both of your squares!!

Rebecca, I think a rose would be fine if you feel like doing that!

I'm glad it looks like my first square is ok. I think I had some tension issues because I was having trouble figuring out what went where so it wasn't smooth crocheting lol!

The Waldo one went very smoothly. The only slightly tricky spot is making sure the rings are linked correctly and laying the right way before you start the background. Once they are in place, the outside of the square goes very easily.

I can't wait to see this whole thing finished!

Holly, your squares are gorgeous! It will straighten out, don't worry. It's one of the wonderful parts of joining squares. I love the Waldo square!!! I saw the pattern for it and was tempted but chickened out. I'm so glad you did it!!!

Your square looks really good too, Rebecca! It wouldn't take too long to put the rose on it if you want to, and you could even go crazy and make it out of two colors if you want to.

I can't wait to see your squares, Chelle, Joy and Tiff!

Chelle,

Yes, it is Red Heart. I got mine at AC Moore, have not been to Michaels lately. They did not have it at Walmart.

I liked it because it was just a little bit bluer than the RH Sages.

You know, we dont have anything around here! There's no Joanns, no Hobby Lobby, no AC Moore - we'd have to drive to Santa Barbara (about an hour) and even then I dont know if they have those stores. Michaels is more expensive, but the Red Heart price difference with Walmart isnt TOO bad, and I really like the look of the spruce with the purples. :)h

Yes, those are hearts...I had wondered if I should make them all out of the lighter color, but up close my whole family said that the two colors together were best!?

I think the hearts look great that way with the two colors!

I finished my square - *and my second square

From the 99 granny squares booklet. I used Orchid and Light Plum. Im planning on putting plumberry variegated into my next square. *My second square is the same Orchid color as the lighter color of the first square, but look how different the camera picks up the color when next to a different color! The variegated is Red Heart Plumberry. Anyhow, my second square is done and I realized while I was making the square that it seemed familier and I was thinking someone posted a square just like it, and I was right! Deb! LOL I've had that Lacy Sun pattern in my binder for over a month waiting for the right opportunity to make it.

It's RH Pale Plum and Dark Plum for the ties. I didn't think the hearts stood out enough.

I'm loving all these squares! Everybody is doing such a great job!!

Do you girls think that I should redo the square and use a lighter color so the hearts stand out better? I want it to look nice for the Mom.

Wow! Great job ladies!!!

Joy, don't you dare rip that out, it looks terriffic! Where is the pattern from?

I have to pick my 3rd one to do. I think I'm going to do another Waldo for the lapghan. I did take a square break today. Had to take DS to see the Yu-gi-Oh! Movie and knew I wouldn't make it through if I actually had to pay attention to it lol! I started the first few rounds of a baby blanket at home so it would be established enough to do it in the dark

This is the pattern star afghan

It's really easy & cute. I'm doing it in 3 different colors of Cotton Tots.

I will be on the hunt for the spruce yarn this weekend when we go school clothes shopping for the kids (fun!). I want to have that yarn color as a border/edging choice and want to have it on hand for that just in case. I may need to pick up more plum too since Im close to being out of that and can pick a darker plum if necessary. I have another FULL skein of orchid :) Anyways, I just want to be sure I have access to the colors we choose to use.
