Update for Jordan

Thanks! I'm having such fun trying out new patterns.

I tried the spirals with my existing yarn...no good. not long enough. I'll try making the spirals first and then attach.

How long should the chain be?

I think if I were doing it, I would make one chain then length of the hat from top to bottom, work the dc's in that and when I put the last dc in the chain, (don't break off) make another chain slightly shorter, say 5 or 10 chains shorter, and then put the dc's in that and keep adding chain lengths in shorter increments until I had as many dangeling spirals as looks good to you. If you leave a long enough tail when you start and end, you can just draw the tails through at the top of the hat, and tie it on. I can't wait to see what it looks like when you're done.

finally, my husband is back in the office and out of meetings and caught billy - he said she is doing okay - really weak. waiting to get to dallas. also he said hats are what she is really wanting right now. someone asked about 2 weeks back what jordan was needing (if anything) and hats have become her favorite thing...

i have done one out of the same purple that matches the teddy's hat that joy made - she was so wonderful and included the purple and yellow she had left:angel . i need to post the picture of that. i'll get to that hopefully this afternoon. but anyway, hats is the answer :bigsmile

Rebecca,

could you email me your address?

I've got a hat sitting on my desk I was working on for an adult. I was going to frog it because it was coming out just a little too snug. It should be perfect for a little girl I knew there was a reason I didn't rip it out yet, lol! It's a nice haindpainted softball cotton.

I have a Dr's appt this afternoon, I should be able to finish up the last few rows while I'm waiting.

Thanks

Holly

Some good news,

>

> Billy called this afternoon to tell me that Cook Children's Hospital in Dallas called and said they had a core match

> (from Umbilical cord) donor for Jordan. Billy says there is still some further tests and consultations with doctors

> in the upcoming weeks, but that in the near future Jordan should get the green light for the Bone Marrow transplant.

> This is one big hurdle behind them. Billy, & Christie were relieved to hear that there was a match. Let's continue

> to remember and pray for Jordan as she continues on with this fight.

>

this is an email forwarded to me from someone in my hubby's office. passing on the word:fluffy

now that i have a little more time:

holly, those hats were so absolutely darn cute!! i LOVE the pinky one. what kind of yarn did you use for it? it is GORGEOUS!

so here's the story: everytime anything has came in the mail, or i finish up a new hat or whatever for Jordan, i sit my kiddos down and let them look at the project and talk to them about the hard work you wonderful ladies put into it for this girl who is sick that you have never even met....yadda yadda... i talk to them about charity work and donations for the less fortunate.... blah blah --- great thing, right? well today, with that absolutely precious duck hat, my youngest claimed it. it was hilarious! he would not let me have it back... i had to bribe him with a bowl of applesauce "you can't have applesauce and the hat at the same time - give it up" so he did and i ran off and put it away --- he screamed for an hour after the applesauce was gone to have it back.... poor baby. think i'm gonna have to make him a duck hat:frog you mind sharing where the pattern came from? :D

Oh poor baby!!!

I didn't mean to make him cry

Ok, first, isn't that pink yarn the best? I got it on Ebay from

this seller Over The Rainbow Yarns It's her "binder" cotton yarn. I've bought from her twice, she ships instantly and you get a lot of yarn for the price.

Next, the duck hat.

I didn't have a specific pattern, I just winged it. Winged it...I'm such a quack up I saw this CPC Chick and was inspired. I made a basic round single crochet hat in yellow. For the beak I made a little oval in orange (chained 5-6, sc up one side and back down the other, increasing 2 sc in the end 3 sc) about 3 times. I folded it in half and sewed it by the middle onto the hat. I think I used a G hook.

I made a little fringe with the same Orange and stuck it through the hole in the top, secured that by sewing around the bottom. I frayed the strands so it was frizzy.

Last but not least, I took some navy blue and embroidered on the eyes.

I'm sorry I can't be very specific, I didn't write it down while I was doing it.
