Simple hat

This is a hat I just made yesterday for a friend of mine.

The pattern is mine, I guess. I just looked at basic hat construction, and then made a basic dc hat, with the first 5 rows of the crown having regular increases, then straight sides. I did an hdc row of white, a dc row of green, then another hdc row of white, then 2 more dc rows of blue to finish it off. I used Simply Soft (got tons of it to use up). Tried it on, and it's a perfect fit (I'm so relieved!) :hook

Now, I need to mail it to its recipient. My question is, since the stitches are so large, how do you make sure that the yarn ends you weave in won't pop out in between 2 stitches? Is there some special technique that can help? I need to weave those in tomorrow so I can send it first thing next week. Thanks! :)
