How big is your yarn stash?

How much yarn have you squirreled away? I don't have too much, just enough for about...10 projects maybe. I know some people have a ton of yarn though. Can you imagine how much money was spent to stash away all the yarn in these pictures? How do you organize your yarn stash?

Also, some handy tips on organizing your yarn stash in this Instagram post.

Oh, and did you know that there is a tag on Instagram called #yarnporn? It's basically pictures of yarn stashes lol.

Holy cow.  I don't really have a 'stash', My stash is leftover partial skeins that come in handy for small projects, or a trim perhaps.  If I want to make something substantial, I go shopping.  I never understood 'stash', really you need to buy the same dye lot if you are making a 1 color thing of any size, like a sweater or blanket, and it's hard enough to do when you have a specific pattern in mind and know the # of yards you need.

I do mostly thread work nowadays, I buy those 'football' size balls in white and off-white, and have a lot of normal size thread balls in different colors, some are years old because they're usually used just for small accents areas, so 1 ball of green makes a lot of leaves on a lot of floral doilies.

I too have a "stash". Without looking, I have about 12 large Rubbermaid type lidded bins full of various types and colors of yarn and thread. Plus, all the yarn I have in my studio/office. The sad part is, every time I want to start a new project, I lack at least one or two colors.

I think that's the frustrating part.  No matter how much yarn I have I still use up the staple yarns and need more.  With the doll project I've been targeting orphan yarns that I've deemed have been in the stash too long and need to leave for doll projects. These are yarns that I'm not likely to order again.  They are left over from projects I finished or projects that seemed like a good idea at the time and never got done. Each year I make a small move forward because I tend not to replace them once they are done. Some are no longer available making it even more likely I won't be replacing them.  I have a LONG way to go.

I have too many to answer the question....🥴 However there is two in my household that's crochet and knit but that doesn't excuse how much we have... And yes you always have to go out and buy another ball for another two balls to do some project because you don't have the right colors or enough or whatever other reason that you have to go shopping...

My stash is accumulating. I like to buy the ice yarn in bulk from Amazon so I've got a good amount of that. Don't get me started on both lilys sugar and cream or peaches n creme.. I use them for all my bags so I have lots of both. I have quite a bit of Dk yarn because I recently discovered it and all the things I can make with it. Then I've got some worsted and bulky weight yarn. I currently keep it all as organized as I can on a tiny shelf my boyfriend brought me one day but the plan is to eventually make my own "yarn storage" bookshelf out of crates like this:

of course it'll probably have to be bigger but that's okay. I love Pinterest for ideas like that. Does anyone have ravelry? If so add me: Angeliahuffman

thanks for sharing about your yarn stashes!
