Better late than never! My laceweight Seraphina

lSeeing superfurry's post on her latest Seraphina reminded me that I never did get around to posting mine here. I finished this way back in June August, after several delays due to other obligations and running out of yarn, etc etc. The project wouldn't have taken so long if I hadn't been suffering an advanced form of ADD this year (causing me much anxiety with just about everything I'm working on), so the length of time it took me shouldn't be used as a guideline for how long it might take anyone else. I started this project in May but didn't get it completed until August for the above-mentioned reasons. I've since worn it numerous times and absolutely :manyheart it. I have another one planned, as soon as I can get to it! I have the yarn, just not the time right now.

Here are some of the links detailing my odyssey with this project. There's more (mostly hysterical rants over my frustrations with my own ineptitude), but these are (mostly) the ones with pics.

Thanks folks! I just noticed I'd forgotten to edit myself after realizing it had been August when I finally finished the project, not June. Lucky I can get anything straight lately! :lol

How many yards of lace weight does it take?

It is lovely.

This particular shawl took all of 3 and about a 3rd of a 4th hank of the Knit Picks Shimmer laceweight, at 400 yards per hank. I'm guessing somewhere around 1400 yards. But for most folks, 3 hanks-worth would probably be big enough, I just like my shawls longer.

As far as how long it took, if we subtract the extended break I had to take while working on other projects (mostly swap stuff) and cancelled out the amount of time correcting the brainless errors, I should have had it done in about 3 weeks of evenings and weekends. Maybe even less. It was going pretty fast when I wasn't hampering myself, lol!

You know, I've been seeing all these threads about the Seraphina shawl ever since I joined, so this morning I decided to do a Google search for it, just to see what all the fuss was about.

That's the most breathtaking shawl I've ever seen. I saved the link, and I'll be trying it after I finish my Christmas gifts.
