Anyone getting comment spam?

Recommended Posts

I just checked my blog and there were 3 comments to my WIP Wednsday thread. When I looked, none of the comments had anything at all to do with what I'd posted. The first one sounded like it had been written by someone without a firm grasp of grammar. All of them had some kind of link in them that had nothing to do with crochet.

I deleted all 3 comments and posted a comment there to the fact to please not spam my blog like that then I wrote a post essentially saying the same thing.

I wasn't really angry but it was slightly annoying, if someone's commenting to one of my posts I prefer them to be commenting about that particular post not trying to get me to click a link. I don't know if any of it was porn, I wasn't about to click anything that was unsolicited.

I just thought I'd post this to blow off a little more steam.

I'm glad you posted this; maybe if enough of us complain the spam will at least slow. I received a spam comment on my blog several weeks ago; I actually read through the whole thing to try and get a grasp as to why it was there. Then it hit me that it was SPAM! Looks like spammers aren't satisfied with people's e-mail accounts anymore~~they've gone to our online journals.:rant :rant :irk:rant

I appreciate real comments, but I also deleted the spam comment as I don't want my blog to get junked up with spam. I don't delete slander (there's still one on my patterns blog), but spam doesn't stand a chance in either my inbox or my comment box. Okay; I feel better now that I've blown off steam. :kettle

That happened to me a couple days ago. I deleted the comments and switched the "comments" settings so that anonymous posts weren't allowed. It was pretty annoying. I got a blog to express myself, not give free advertising space to spammers. :tryme

But Chatty (and all) those little trolls make such interesting comments. :lol

My blog was hit while I was traveling and I kept deleting and deleting. Then it stopped. Recently it started again. As fast as I was deleting those interesting comments new ones were appearing.

Turning on the verification has stopped it, for now. I don't want to stop the anon posts as too many of my friends don't have a blog, but like to leave me notes.

Hopefully, you have it under control.

Yeah, try to leave anonymous comments on if you can, or honest folks like me who blog but don't have a Blogspot blog can't leave comments for you. And if it's any consolation, I'm getting slammed by spam too, but just trackback spam so far. I need to research it and see how to handle it or I'm going to have a mess if I manage to go on vacation in October.

I just started getting spam on my blog and immediately enabled the comment verification feature at blogger. Although the spam wasn't pornographic, it was annoying.

ROFL! One of mine was a lawyer looking for clients, another was a gal looking for ... ermmm .. .clients. :eek Then there was the cowboy with recipes, that had ... ermmm .. pictures. *blush*

Now zits ... I actually had to deal with them in June when my doc put me on Provera for 10 days. Was a barrel of laughs. :lol
