Would you pay $50 to learn to do wiggly crochet?

Recommended Posts

And they have used ones starting at $131!!!! That is just crazy! Here is the Annie's Attic Wiggly Crochet for rugs for only $4.95! http://www.anniesattic.com/detail.html?prod_id=74459

I got taken once -- paid $25 for a pattern book without a name. We actually had a thread about the book and I was embarrassed to admit I had been taken before the title was known and links were posted (one by me after I found the name of the book) showing the book for sale for a fraction of what I paid! What is worse, once I got the book, it was only half crochet (most of my favorite pictures were actually knit!) and of those that were crochet most were cross stitched to get the beautiful patterns seen in the pictures. I don't mind a little cross stitch, but I know I will not do a whole afghan in detailed cross stitch. So, lovely to look at, but the book will probably never be used!

I do understand collector's items. The Annie's Attic Noah's Ark with patterns for scores of animals always fetches over $50 but I figure that is so unique and really contains so many patterns it is worth it. But wiggly crochet is wiggly crochet. The $4.95 book can teach it just as well as that $50 one!

Add on: By the way -- Annies Attic does react when we ask for patterns to be reissued. They recently reissued the Cathedral Rose Afghan and now the Baby booties that look like little sneakers book is available again too. So, when you find one that is being priced out of reach, send emails to Annie's Attic and sometimes they respond! I am hoping the Noah's Ark gets reissued. I send an email every once in a while.

There were some patterns for the flower designs done in wiggly crochet in some magazine fairly recently also, i think.

good point about patterns being reissued, they definitely ought to reissue that little booklet!

No I would not pay that there out to gouge people in my book. If you keep looking everything one way or another comes up on Ebay or Etsy or ECrater at better prices it is a waiting game but it does come around.

There is a cap that I would spend for books (unless it is a rare (and very rare) first edition signed book and then I would have to win a lottery to afford that anyway. LOL.

There are plenty of alternatives for wiggly crochet, just like other patterns. But that is my little humble opinion.
