I guess that is what it is called I saw a few post here on the ville about it then some links to patterns, so following a little of this and a little of that, I made mine with a grid of 19 squares by 19 squares. I used leftover lustersheen, I think that is about equivilent to size 3 thread and a C crochet hook.

I was interested in the technique, I am just not sure what one would use it in except for hot pads and maybe a bath matt or kitchen rug??? I mean it is interesting but what to do with the technique now???

Very pretty. I have one that I use as a hot pad that I got from a garage sale. I was always courious to how they were made, then ran across a pattern, one from Annie's magazines. I found it fasinating, but haven't tried it yet.

Search mosaic or squiggly or ruffled here at the ville...

there are a few post

The basic Idea here

http://www.craftyarncouncil.com/projects/july99_crochet_2.html

you make a grid of chains and DC then work around the chains and Dc's on the squares of the grid.

I know clear as mud but it is very easy just time consuming.

Ok nother explaination on the blog here.

I've not seen that before, and thanks for your explanation. Now I understand! At first I thought it was on a *plastc* grid! Not quite sure what I'd do with it.... Bet it uses lots of yarn/thread, too.
