Crochet Tote and Matching Afghan

Recommended Posts

I made this a few weeks ago for my MIL for Mothers Day.The tote was so nice to make but required more sewing than I personally like but was well worth it.I did not make the side pockets and only made 6 pockets instead of 8.

Here is the free pattern for the tote from Lionbrand

To match the tote I decided to make an Afghan also...It is called Fabulous Fans from the Afghans by the pound By Rita Weiss.I choose 3 different colors instead of the pattern being in one color only.Only have to add the fringe and its complete.

I am going to place the afghan inside the tote when I give it to her for Mother's Day!

Hope you all like it...:)

I know that these required a lot of work on your part & she must be one special MIL!! You did an awesome job on them both & I think I like the look of your tote better with the 6 pockets instead of 8. Please keep us updated on her reaction.

Your tote is so pretty. I made one like that with Sugar and Cream and also didn't want to do all that sewing (I love to sew, but not crochet projects). I tried to sew it together on my machine, which sews everything, and did nothing but break needles. I guess the only thing to do is put these totes together by hand, but when you get such a nice result, it is probably worth the effort.

I am sure your MIL is going to love it. I've had the purse pattern printed for a while, just haven't gotten around to it. Love the idea of an afghan to go inside as an additional gift.

Thanks for sharing your work!
