Crocheted gifts for men

Recommended Posts

socks

or maybe some kind of cloth for the car to clean fogged windows - don't know what yarn that would need though?

A big old glove to wipe ice from car - with a little scraper attached?

I cleaned my car toay, hence car ideas.

I have a knitting pattern for that kind of a mitten :)

But I think this is more a christmas-gift than a birthday gift (his birthday is in the summer).

How about a bath scrubby mitt and a "rough" bath puffy?

A car organizer basket that would fit in the cup holder and hold change and his cell phone?

I would not suggest a tie, however or a vest, no matter how much the magazines keep suggesting them, lol.

If he cooks, kitchen accessories would be cool.

What are his hobbies? If he golfs, there are always the ubiquitous golf club cozies...

I made my boyfriend a Tetris Afghan, but that is hardly a small project. For other guys, I've made two scarfs for two male friends (one was the pink-and-green one in the Happy Hooker, but with two shades of blue, white, and black instead), and I made two hats for another male friend of mine (not-very-good pics here and here). Hope that helps!

How about a beer cozy/coffee cup cozy? It's really quick and supereasy, and you can put whatever design you want on it...

This one's knit, but I'm sure you could crochet them just as easily. I made this for my ex-boyfriend last summer. He thought it was excellent. Stops your hands getting cold from the beer, and stops your beer getting warm from your hands... Or, stops your coffee burning you... Whatever you like :)

I've made a cro-hook (double-ended crochet) scarf for DH--they're stretchy, look unisex, and are very easy. I also did him a very simple double-crochet afghan in a color of his choosing (RHSS Windsor blue). Not to be outdone, then my son wanted the exact same simple afghan in another color (RHSS Carrot as orange is his favorite color). Maybe a camo-yarn cap--these are popular here in the south.

ROFL! I know what you mean! The latest issue of Crochet! Magazine has a bunch of stuff for men and IMO it was several wasted pages as I don't know of ANY man who would want to wear a crocheted tie!

Ew, I'm with you all on the crocheted tie thing--I showed the patterns to my boyfriend and pretended quite earnestly that I really wanted to make him one... I think I saw him physically gag.

For a small project...what about dishcloths? Can't go wrong there--everyone's counters get dirty. If he travels a lot, maybe something to hold a passport or ID? Maybe manly-type containers for around the house--I've seen some really gender-generic patterns for baskets that are definitely practical. Hope this helps!

Someone else ask this question a few weeks ago but I think it was for her father. Empress (I hope that is the correct person and if not I'm sorry) posted the following links and I saved them in an e mail I sent myself.

A pillow or two to snuggle with when he has a few or to support his neck when he's getting tired or even to sit on.

Maybe some kind of CD holder like this:

Water bottle holder:

How about a drink cozy:

There's coffee cozies, too but I'm afraid I'd throw it out with the cup. lol

Does he use chap stick?

Soapholder for the truckstops:

Does he save or use store bags? They're good for a million things like dirty clothes or shoes. Make him a bag holder if he does. Do it 'man' colors:

Does he read on the road (at stops)? How about a bookmark or two:

How about a cap:

Windshield bug scrubber:

Maybe a small rug for his floor boards:

I'm making a washcloth for the boy I'm flying to England to visit. This is only cute b/c of what I plan to say to him when I give it. I don't think what I plan to say is acceptable for public posting, so, PM me if you have no clue! lol

I made "waffle stitch" (sc, ch1, sc, ch1, repeat, then sc in the ch 1 spaces) scarves in a 50/50 wool/silk blend in manly colors for a couple I know (both men). They loved them.

Thats about all I've made/am making for men. That is why I'm learning to knit. Crochet it girly-looking, IMO.

you never said if he plays golf, but if he does, there is a "tee bag" that you crochet to hold his tee's in and it folds up like a tea bag. kindof cute.

there's also, and I hope this isn't inappropriate, but boob pillows. I made my bf 1 for his birthday, and then a few friends have gotten me to make a pair for the men in their lives.

Boob pillows? Sandy, where can I find a pattern for that? My husband would love that. Also, Christina's Crochet Haven has a pattern for a men's velvet thong. http://www.christinascrochethaven.com/men.htm I'd love to make boob pillows to go with a thong for my husband for Father's Day. :devil

I found the pattern on Stargazer's pg. www.home.inreach.com/marthac/crochet.html . She had made a pair for her dad. I also found a similar pattern to your velvet thong, but it's called a "willy warmer" w/the pattern being here.

I've made crochet DS lite covers for 3 different men so far... any simple cover for their favorite electrical gizmo is bound to be popular and get used.

Every time I make a cover, I get another request for one!
