Mukluk/Knee High Boot

Guest Kristie Crochet

Question

Guest Kristie Crochet

I have been searching for a long time for a pattern on this. I really, really, really, wish I knew how to write/create my own patterns. There was a pattern that was discussed on here a awhile ago, that had a black and white photo with it. I tried that pattern. It was hopeless, the instructions on forming the top of the foot for the boot were really messed up. I got that far, making the stiches, undoing them and remaking them at least six times before I started crying. Maybe I am taking these boots or the idea of making them myself too seriously. But, I really want to make them. I unravelled everything and gave up. There's got to be a better way. I am just not experienced at free handing it. I hope you gals can help.

So, basically it's just a boot that has a close fitting foot. Double strands of yarn would make sense for comfort and warmth especially up here in Canada. And the boot follows up in one piece to the knee where it's tied behind or in front of the knee with a drawstring type cord/thread. I guess you could start with any pattern and go from there. I just don't know how to go about 'going from there'.

I would really appreciate ANY help or ideas or input.

Thanks so much.

Kristie

I love those! I tried to find the website for the mag. but only got a page saying the magazine was going to be launching March 27th -- but that was LAST March 27th.

Did you want a leather-type bottom or crochet bottom?

Here is a pattern with a slipper sole not crocheted

To find the slipper sole you can google it and should find a few place. (I'd search for "slipper sole for knitted slippers" just because knitters have been doing this for a while, a lot come up when I choose that item).

I have one that I saved that laces up. I'll have to wait until my husband boots his computer up tomorrow. This one doesn't lace up, but it is higher on the leg than the usual slipper: http://www.********.com/crochet/pat19.htm
