Call me rude.. but OMG that story made me laugh!:rotfl

Seriously, I am so glad you weren't seriously hurt, and that you could share this story with us! It does sound painful!

I wonder if we would even be able to bring our crochet hooks on airplanes anymore, with all the security now!? Those little suckers are truly weapons!

:day

Has anyone tried to pass through airline security with crochet hooks since 9-11? I just flew to Florida but stowed my crocheting in my luggage. I wasn't going to take any chances. I am sure knitting needles are out, but what about crochet hooks?

i think it depends on the hook. if it's aluminum, i don't believe it will be detected.

It's much better to have plastic hooks for the planes.

As for threading, you can always call the airlines ahead of time to see if that's an item they will not allow.

I had a similar thing happen, only it was 5 colored pencils, and it was my foot. :faint

I flew right after 9-11 and they took mine away. :thumbsdown but since then I have flown and have had no problems. I say they are no more dangerous than a pen or a pencil! I was mad because I was LEAVING for my trip, and I didn't have anything to do! I couldn't justify paying for a taxi to a craft store, and there were not any for sale at the Exchange on base...*sigh

Wow, your story sounds painful! A regular pain in the rear! Bad joke aside, you did have me cracking up, and while I'm sure it wasn't funny at the time, I imagine you've found the humor in it since.

Makes me glad I stick with D and bigger hooks LOL

I have a tendancy of leaving my "thread" work in progress on the sofa and I really actually try not to do that for a variety of reasons, including the fact that the steel hooks can pierce through things like the sofa or my backside...your post just confirms that I need to make sure that the hook is not left where that can happen...I'm glad you're alright...

We went out of the country this summer and I had plastic and aluminum hooks and no one said a word to me. They didn't even open the bag to look at them, but they searched thru everything in my camera bag. Go figure.
