This actually wasn't too difficult of a piece; it was pretty simple, and you don't need to think too much about it up until the last 5 rows or so.

 

Not only is your doily simply stunning, but the jewerly you make ROCKS <img src="images/smilies/wha.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Eek" smilieid="201" class="inlineimg" /> I can not tell you my favorite, I have SOOO many. You are a very talented lady!!

I cannot imagine doing so well on my first try!

I printed out the pattern, thinking I'd try, too. How did you know the thread was supposed to be #10 looking at the pattern?

 

I didn't for sure! I saw in this month's Crochet! magazine that that doily used a #8 hook and size 10 thread, so I thought maybe size 10 thread would look alright using a #7 hook. Turned out, it worked!

I printed off that pattern several months ago but haven't gotten to it yet. I think it's a beautiful selection for Mother's Day with the flowers. You did an excellent job. It'll bring tears to her eyes, I'm sure!
