Christmas present blanket...

...for my sister.

It took about 55 hours, it measures almost 6'-0"x6'-0", done in pounds of love from Lion Brand (about 1.5 each of white and mint).

I made the square design up myself,

used the flat braid joining technique , and made up the edging too (similar idea to the joining).

She loved it! Finished in on Saturday, with a day to spare!

Thanks for looking.

Here is the joining method I used http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/lffunt/flatbraid.htm

This is the first time I attempted it, and it was fairly easy...just a little more time consuming that I had hoped....each square, with joinage, took about 45 minutes...

Thanks again!

Lovely afghan, very pretty! I have used that joining method a number of times( once on a sweater made of squares) And it is beautiful but I've found that you need to pay extra attention to securely weaving/sewing in the ends with this one because in my exteriance the ends tend to work themselves out after a wash or two. Just crocheting over them or weaving them in and out of stitches isn't secure enough for this joining method.
