My 2nd Ripple I am loving these...I however find that using Red Heart makes they use about 4-6 skeins to get a 34 row blanket.... :think Do you think they are to heavy for a newborn? & why are they so hard to photo lol....

Very pretty Ripple.

I too usually use a baby yarn (3 weight) such as Paton's Beehive. However, I do get great results with Caron Simply Soft Light. Red Heart and Lion Brand yarns have  several baby yarns that are not too lightweight and crochet up pretty fast.

I always use WW but that is because my hands find it easier.  I guess it depends on where you live and what month it is before you can decide if it is too warm; in Canada in any month after September - warm is good. :wbrr

I use ww as it seems to go faster for me. People seem to love baby blankets in it.  The thinner yarns seem harder or take longer, not sure what it is.

Lion Brand Pound of Love might be a compromise. It's worsted weight but on the light side, is soft and comes in some nice colors for baby blankets.
