stocking hats

I joined our "Mitten Knitter" club at my church. They meet every Thursday morning, but I can't attend because I work during the day. However, this year they are allowing anyone who wants to to crochet hats, mittens and/or scarves to donate to this cause. Then the ladies from my church go around to the different elementary schools and give them to the children who need them.

Here is a picture of 3 hats I finished this week.

The variegated hat and the pink hat are from this pattern:

http://susan.kraus.net/pages/pattern5.html

yarnover posted it saying that it was the first baby hat she'd made. I used regular red heart yarn and a larger hook. The pattern calls for sport weight baby yarn and a smaller hook. I just added the extra eyelash yarn on one and changed to a solid color for the brim on the variegated one. The flower is my own addition.

The light purple one with the pompom top is one my church uses it is just

ch 40

sc in 2nd chain from hook and in each chain across

ch 1, turn, sc across

ch 1 turn until the piece measures approximately 11 inches. (or larger for a larger hat.

Then sew the sides up together and gather the top, stitch top shut. Make the pompom and attach it to the top .

I'm having fun adding accesories to these hats to jazz them up. I have been sitting on my breaks making these and people in my building want to order them from me. I told them that these are for my church that they'd have to wait. If I made them to sell--What is a decent price?

Thanks for the compliments!

Teresa
