Yorkie Pride Square - 8 inch - Christal Friend 2011 - Advanced design

Abreviations

sc-single crochet, hdc- half double, dc- double, tc- triple, sl st- slip stitch,

BLO- back loops only, FLO- front loops only, FO- fasten off.

 

Materials

worsted weight yarn in the following colors:

A- main dog color

B- pink for tongue

C- black for eyes & nose

D- white for accent stitches on eyes, very small amount

E- bow color

F- main square color

G- Boarder color

 

G hook & yarn needle

 

Note*

Ch 2 at beginning of rnds does not count as a stitch!

 

Back of head with color A

Rnd 1) Ch 3, join with a sl st in 3rd ch from hook to form a ring. Ch 2, work

12 dc in ring. Join with a sl st in top of 1st dc. (12)

Rnd 2) Ch 2, 2 dc in each st around. Join to top of 1st dc. (24)

Rnd 3) Ch 2, (dc in next ch, 2 dc in the next ch) repeat around. Join to 1st

dc. (36)

Rnd 4) Ch 2, (dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st) repeat around. Join to 1st dc.

(48) FO

 

Front of head with color A

Rnds 1-4) Repeat back of head but do not FO.

Rnd 5) FLO, First ear *Ch 6, sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next ch,

dc in next 2 chs, tc in last ch, skip 3 sts on head & sl st in next st*,

(ch 4, sl st in next st) 2 times, (ch 8, sl st in next st) 4 times,

(ch 4, sl st in next st) 2 times, Second ear - repeat from * to *,

ch 3, sl st in next st, ch 4, sl st in next st, (ch 5, sl st in next st) 27

times, ch 4, sl st in next st, ch 3, sl st in last st. FO.

 

Muzzle with color A - worked in oval shape

Rnd 1) Ch 7, 3 dc in 3rd ch from hook, dc in next 3 chs, 5 dc in last ch,

working on opposite side of starting ch, dc in next 3 chs, 2 dc in last ch.

Join to 1st dc. (16)

Rnd 2) Ch 2, skip st with ch 2 & work 2 dc in next 2 sts, dc in next 3 sts,

2 dc in each of next 5 sts, dc in next 3 sts, 2 dc in each of next 2 sts,

2 dc in same st as beginning ch 2. Join to 1st dc. (26)

Rnd 3)FLO, Sl st in next 10 sts, (ch 4, sl st in next st) 16 times.

FO leaving long tail to sew to bottom half of front of head.

 

Tongue with color B - worked in U shape

Row 1) Ch 3, sc in 2nd ch from hook, 3 sc in last ch, working on other side

of starting ch, sc in last ch. Ch 1 & turn. (5)

Row 2) Sc in 1st st, 2 sc in each of next 3 sts, sc in last st. FO leaving tail

for sewing onto muzzle. (8) Sew to muzzle as in picture.

 

Nose with C - oval shaped

Ch 4, 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, 3 sc in last ch, working on

opposite side of starting ch, sc in next ch, sc in last ch. Join. FO leaving tail and sew onto muzzle. (8)

 

Eyes with color C - make 2

Ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join FO (6) Leave tails and sew onto face above muzzle. Use white to stitch accent marks on eyes.

 

Main part of square with color F

Place back & front of head wrong side together, with head front facing up.

You will be working through the BLO of the front piece & both loops of the back piece.

Rnd 1) Join with dc in center bottom st on face, dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in

next st, (dc in next 3 sts, 2 dc in next st) repeat around. Join. (60)

Rnd 2) Ch 1, sc in 4 sts, *hdc in next 2 sts, dc in next st, 3 dc in next st,

dc in next st, hdc in next 2 sts, sc in 8 sts*, repeat from * to * twice,

hdc in next 2 sts, dc in next st, 3 dc in next st, dc in next st, hdc in

next 2 sts, sc in last 4 sts. Join. (68)

Rnd 3) Work top corner shells through a st on top back of ears to hold them in place.

Ch 1, sc in 3 sts, *hdc in 2 sts, dc in 3 sts, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc)- corner

shell in next st, dc in 3 sts, hdc in 2 sts, sc in 6 sts*, repeat from * to *

twice, hdc in 2 sts, dc in 3 sts, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next st, dc in 3 sts,

hdc in 2 sts, sc in last 3 sts. Join. (88)

Rnd 4) Ch 2, dc in same st as ch 2, ch 1, skip 2 sts, (3 dc in next st, ch 1)

twice, skip 3 sts, *(3 dc, ch 2, 3dc) in corner ch space, ch 1, skip 3 sts,

(3 dc in next st, ch 1, skip 2 sts) twice, dc in next st, 2 dc in next st,

(ch 1, skip next 2 sts, 3 dc in next st) twice, ch 1, skip 3 sts*, repeat

from * to * 2 more times, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in corner ch space, ch 1,

skip 3 sts, (3 dc in next st, ch 1, skip 2 sts) twice, ch 1, skip 2 sts,

dc in next st, dc in same st as 1st dc of rnd. Join. FO.

(84 dc, 24 ch 1 spaces, 4 ch 2 spaces)

 

Border with color G

Rnd 1) Join with a dc in any corner ch space, ch 2, 2 dc in same space, dc in

BLO of next 3 sts, {dc in ch space, dc in BLO of next 3 dc}, repeat from

{ to } across to corner ch space,* (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in ch 2 space for

corner, dc in BLO of 3 sts, (dc in ch 1 space, dc in BLO of next 3 sts)*

repeat from * to * around to last corner, dc in beginning corner space

and join to 1st dc.

Rnd 2) Sl st into corner ch 2 space, ch 2, (dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in same space,

dc in next st, {fpdc next st, dc next st}, repeat from { to } across to

next corner space, * (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in corner ch space, dc in next

st, {fpdc next st, dc next st} repeat from { to } across to next corner

space.* Repeat from * to * around to 1st corner, dc in same space as

1st dc. Join & FO.

 

Bow on Head with color E

Ch 20, sl st under middle of long loops at top of head, ch 20. FO.

Trim ends and tie into bow.

 

All done!

Christal -- Thank you so much for posting your Yorkie Pride Pattern! I kkow you have had a LOT going on and still you took the time to share this with us. I really appreciate it. I will post when I make something -- still debating on afghan squares or a tote like you made. Thanks again!You are so very creative!

my Yorkie Lula Von Hoot approves of this pattern and gives it 5 thumbs up...just adorable making one for the kitchen wall about only room there isn't a picture of her ..lol .ss us yorkie people are crazied..if you ever want a magical dog turn your gaze to a Yorkshire ..you really out did anything I have seen in the crochet yorkie world..I am serious
