The square was scanned in two parts and then put together for a picture.
(Don't have a digital camera)

There's a graph at the end of the pattern to help if you have any problems.

Materials:

Worsted Weight Yarn
Size H hook (5.00mm)
Yarn needle (to weave in ends)

Finish Size: 12”h x 12”w inches

Gauge: 7 dc = about 2” inches
3 Rows of dc = about 2” inches

Notes:

*On Row 1 when you dc in 6th chain from hook this will leave 5 chains free. These 5 chains count as part of starting chain, 1 dc and ch1.

Beginning ch4 counts as dc and ch1 for Rows.

Directions:

Row 1: Ch36, 1 dc in 6th chain from hook, [ch1, skip next chain, 1 dc in next chain] Do this 15 times, ch4 and turn.
(17dc, 16-ch1 spaces)

Row 2: Skip next ch1 space, 1 dc in next st, [1 dc in next ch1 space, 1 dc in next st] Do this 14 times, ch1, skip next ch1 space, 1 dc in 4th chain of ch5* (There should be 3 chains left free for corner), ch4 and turn.
(31dc, 2- ch1 spaces)

Row 3: Skip next ch1 space, 1 dc in each of the next 29 sts, ch1, skip next ch1 space, 1 dc in 3rd chain of beginning ch4, ch4 and turn.
(31dc, 2-ch1 spaces)

Row 4: Skip next ch1 space, 1 dc in each of the next 5 sts, [ch1, skip next st, 1 dc in next st] Do this 8 times, 1 dc in each of the next 8 sts, ch1, skip next ch1 space, 1 dc in 3rd chain of beginning ch4, ch4 and turn.
(23dc, 10-ch1 spaces)

Row 5: Skip next ch1 space, 1 dc in each of the next 7 sts, ch1, skip next st, 1 dc in next st, [ch1, skip next ch1 space, 1 dc in next st] Do this 8 times, 1 dc in each of the next 4 sts, ch1, skip next ch1 space, 1 dc in 3rd chain of beginning ch4, ch4 and turn.

Row 6: Skip next ch1 space, 1 dc in each of the next 5 sts, [ch1, skip next ch1 space, 1 dc in next st] Do this 9 times, 1 dc in each of the next 6 sts, ch1, skip next ch1 space, 1 dc in 3rd chain of beginning ch4, ch4 and turn.

Row 11: Skip next ch1 space, 1 dc in each of the next 15 sts, 1 dc in next ch1 space, 1 dc in next st, [ch1, skip next ch1 space, 1 dc in next st] Do this 3 times, 1 dc in next ch1 space, 1 dc in each of the next 5 sts, ch1, skip next ch1 space, 1 dc in 3rd chain of beginning ch4, ch4 and turn.
(28dc, 5-ch1 spaces)

Row 12: Skip next ch1 space, 1 dc in each of the next 7 sts, [1 dc in next ch1 space, 1 dc in next st] Do this 3 times, 1 dc in each of the next 16 sts, ch1, skip next ch1 space, 1 dc in 3rd chain of beginning ch4, ch4 and turn.
(31dc, 2-ch1 spaces)

Row 13: Skip next ch1 space, 1 dc in each of the next 29 sts, ch1, skip next ch1 space, 1 dc in 3rd chain of beginning ch4, ch4 and turn.
(31dc, 2-ch1 spaces)

Row 14: Skip next ch1 space, 1 dc in next st, [ch1, skip next st, 1 dc in next st] Do this 14 times, ch1, skip next ch1 space, 1 dc in 3rd chain of beginning ch4.
(17dc, 16-ch1 spaces)

Do Not Turn!!!!
Notes:

Now you’re going to start working in Rnds for the border.

Corner Space is where the ch1 and Row ends meet at the corners.

Border:

Rnd 1: Ch3, 2 dc in Row end, 2 dc in each of the next 12 Row ends, (3 dc, ch3, 1 dc) all in next corner space (row end/ch1), 2 dc in each of the next 14-ch1 spaces, (1 dc, ch3, 3 dc) all in next corner space (ch1/row end), 2 dc in each of the next 12 Row ends, (3 dc, ch3, 1 dc) all in next corner space (row end/ch1), 2 dc in each of the next 14-ch1 spaces, 1 dc in next corner space (same as first 2 dc), ch3, join with sl st to top of beginning ch3.
(120dc, 4-ch3 spaces) (Beginning ch3 counts as dc)

Rnd 2: Ch3, 1 dc in each of the next 29 sts, (2 dc, ch3, 2 dc) all in next ch3 space, [1 dc in each of the next 30 sts, (2 dc, ch3, 2 dc) all in next ch3 space] Do this 3 times, join with sl st to top of beginning ch3.
(136dc, 4-ch3 spaces) (Beginning ch3 counts as dc)

Rnd 3: Ch1, 1 hdc in same st as joining, 1 hdc in each of the next 31 sts, (2 hdc, ch2, 2 hdc) all in next ch3 space, [1 hdc in each of the next 34 sts, (2 hdc, ch2, 2 hdc) all in next ch3 space] Do this 3 times, 1 hdc in each of the next 2 sts, join with sl st to first hdc.
(152hdc, 4-ch2 spaces)

Finish off and weave in ends.
