Hi...I'm looking to buy some yarn online, but I don't know who to buy it from! I bought once from Herrshners, and they made me wait 3 months! So, I wont buy from then anymore :angry ... Does anyone know where to buy some yarn online that they are fast and have lots to pick from? Thank you SOOO much :)

OH gosh, there are SO many!!!

Joann's online is good - http://www.joann.com

Herrschners takes about 2 weeks for me. My first order took forever but they got progressively better.

Smiley's Yarns has some discounted stuff but has a $30 minimum purchase - http://www.pagelinx.com/cgi-shopper/loadpage.cgi/smileysyarns/ezshopper?user_id=id&file=iriot.htm

KNitpicks has some nice stuff although can be pricey- http://www.knitpicks.com

Ebay always works!!!!

I buy almost all my stuff from Joann online or Herrschners. There are LOTS out there though and I'm sure people will list them for you.

For staple yarns such as Bernat, Lion, Caron, Red Heart, Patons and the like it is hard to beat The Knitting Warehouse. Their prices are better than Herrschners, the selection is much better than the big box stores, especially in color availability, and your order will arrive in three or four days. Shipping is a flat $5.99. http://store.knitting-warehouse.com/yarn.html

I agree that Herrschners is very slow. I also find that they confirm your order and notify you later that some of the yarn is back ordered or not available. That is just not acceptable for a craft store. I have ended up with half the yarn for a project and been told the rest was not available. UGH

For the more unusual yarns I like elann.com

The Knitting Garden

Knit Picks

and KnitPixie

I have been very pleased with my purchases from yarn-and-threadbylisa.com

Their service was very prompt, and the shipping charges reasonable. Questions are answered very quickly, and I have recommended them to several people.

Don't forget to check out their specials!

That is EXACTLY what happen to me... once half my order was shipped to me, they claimed the rest had to be back ordered! They kept procratinating my order ...till it was 3 months of waiting!

Thank you very much for all the websites to help me out....Cynthia Lee

In defense of Herrschners I ordered from them in June and had my entire order, complete in every detail, in LESS time than they said it would take on their website when I placed the order (I ordered on Sunday, my order was delivered on Wednesday). Maybe they're getting better, or maybe it was because i just ordered simple stuff? Whichever .. it did work for me, although now I'm scared to order from them again *hehe*

I didn't ask the question, but THANKS, THANKS, THANKS! I've had trouble locating online stores that ship to Canada, and I always seem to get ripped off when I shop ebay. Now, I have a nice list of new places that WILL ship to Canada. I swear, one day I'm opening my own yarn store, if just to keep myself in good supply!

I've had really good experiences with both of these. The 2nd is really good for "bulk" orders - you can buy by the bag so if you have a project that requires several skeins then you are sure to get them all in the same dye lot. I do Ebay, too.

I wanted to add that I really like this company. I live in MI as do one of their shipping places, so It only takes a day or two to ship. :) And I was in a pinch when they got it to me. So I really like them.
