I created a chart to track squares that i received for a comfortghan. Using this chart has helped to collect addresses, keep a tally on the squares, etc. I filled out this form in pencil, so that numbers and such can be changed.

To true!!! My trouble maker is sitting on my lap right now and frogging as I crochet :rofl If you want more laughs (or tears) check out his yarn art.

Ignore my messy house it was after christmas and after a weekend at my DD's in Beaumont.

O M G....those pictures are hysterical! My cat gets in my yarn and does some damage but not like that. Of course I usually catch her in the beginning.

My tip is to get in a comfortable position when you crochet. Usually if my arm or shoulder starts to hurt I know I am in the wrong position. I have to let my right arm hang freely or it hurts. If I let it hang freely, I can crochet for hours w/o hurting.

One of my favorite tips-- the foundation sc and foundation dc make your life so much easier. I like them a lot for starting scarves. And it is just as easy to work either side of a fsc or fdc if you wish to make ovals and the like. Here's the youtube tutorial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A83tzk49DzI

My favorite tip...

Make sure you put your crocheting away in a safe place AWAY from the CATS when you aren't working on it or they will FROG it for you --- ALL over the HOUSE! :yes

I actually managed to train my cats to stay away from my yarn, for the most part, sometimes when I've set down my D&I afghan Tony will test his boundaries by laying down on it but I just look at him and say, "You know better" and he'll get up and find a less dangerous place to nap.

Love the wax paper tip, I'll have to try that.

My tip, stolen from Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, in your yarn bag keep emergency chocolate/scotch in case things go poorly and you need a pick me up.

OOOO - didn't know about this - will have to give it a go - thank you!

My tip.... when trying to follow a thread crochet pattern do exactly what it says to do - it may seem strange sometimes but it works out just right and the thinking of the pattern writer will become clear (clever people!) :hook

I have found a great way to work with Caron One Pounders. I bought a sterilite container it measures 16" X 12" X 6" and I punched in two holes as you can see in the picture. It holds two so I can crochet with two colors. Also I have a dog so it keeps the yarn dog hair free.

TIP:

When joining a row on a Granny Square, instead of joining into the 3rd chain of the chain-3 made as the first dc, join in the 2nd chain instead. Makes for a much neater, finished look.

I am currently working on the slipper pattern for Christmas gifts from their Oct- 07, '09 post and it is way fun. :hook

I didn't read thru all the posts so don't know if someone posted this or not, but I find that I need to stop every few stitches and check my crochet.

I'm making squares for an afghan right now, and I've had to rip out several because I didn't put in enough stitches on the previous row or did too many, or incorrect number at the corner, etc.

If I make myself stop and check each row as it is finished it ultimately saves me time in the long run.
