After drooling over it for a long time I finally put my other projects aside and made my very own Haekelbeutel!:jumpyay

BTW, does anyone know the translation for Haekelbeutel from German to English? And the proper pronunciation? :think

Well, "beutel" means "bag" in German, but I can't find a translation for "haekel".

It's a fun bag.........I made one in Caron's "Felt-it" ..........it was much smaller than the original once felted, but I really liked the way it turned out.

Pretty bag!

My mom grew up in family that was fluent in German so I asked if she could translate Haekel. She says it means ‘to crochet.’ However when we looked it up in the German dictionary we couldn’t find Haekel. We did find Häkeln [v] (hook), which means ‘fasten with a hook,’ and Häkelnadel means ‘crochet hook’ or ‘crochet needle.’ Since the A-umlaut (ä) is often replaced with the (ae) combination, Haekel is probably just a variation of Häkeln. So loosely translated, HaekelBeutel = Crocheted Bag.
