Great score on clearance yarn!

Hi everyone! I was so excited I had to share.

Yesterday I went to JoAnns to buy some yarn for a project. As I was walking through the aisles I was amazed at how many great kinds of yarn were on clearance...not just the somewhat yucky colors either....wonderful colors and textures!!! Well, I was a good girl and only bought 5 skeins of Caron Wintuk in blue which was on sale for 50cents!!!! Yes, 50cents a skein! I love Caron yarns, especially Simply Soft. I had never tried the Wintuk, but at 50 cents I couldn't turn it down. So I left with that as my husband was out waiting in the car and would have killed me if I bought more.

Well, that night my husband was going to work and I just kept thinking about all that yarn and how it needed a good home. So I got my daughter ready and off we went back to JoAnns with my stash of yarn emergency money....and yes, this was a yarn emergency!

I was in yarn heaven!!! Yarn was literally jumping off the shelves and into my cart....well, not exactly, but I was definitely just grabbing it and winging it into the cart. I'd grab two of most things, then decide I needed 1 or 2 more since it was such a great deal. I was shocked when I looked back there and the cart was three-quarters full. I've never bought more than 5 or 6 skeins at a time!

Well, the checkout lady was in awe when she saw my cart so I explained that I make a lot of clothes for my daughter and also items for charity. Anyway, I got 42 skeins of yarn and a size I hook for $61.87!!!!! Afterwards I counted and I had 23 skeins for 97 cents and 19 skeins for $1.97. I was in heaven looking at all my yarn....nuzzling all the yarn... and then in a panic realizing I had to hide it all before my husband came home, lol. He just doesn't get it. So much for me not buying any yarn in May and using up what I had. I just made up for it most definitely!

Here's a pic of my yarn yumminess.... total $65.86 for 48 skeins of yarn!!!

Some of the yarn is hiding.... there is a big caron one pounder in the back, 9 homespun baby skeins- 3 each of blue, pink, and purple... 3 each in black, blue, and green Lustersheen--I've never used that before but it looked so soft and silky... so many other great yarns too.

I did manage to cram it all in my yarn drawers, but I definitely can't buy any yarn for a while!!!!

Wow, nice variety! I went there the other day as well, but only bought 4 skeins of the Rainbow Boucle/Classic. I like Caron Charming..and that was $1.97 a skein, so I am thinking about going back to get some of that (it's very soft!). There were many kinds of yarn on clearance, and there is a firefly sale coming up soon, so I may wait until then, lol! Thanks for sharing!!! :yay

I haven't seen Caron Charming. I just couldn't believe how many of the yarns I actually use or have wanted to use (but never did because I didn't want to spend the money) were on clearance. Like the Astra and the Be Mine...those are soooo soft. I can't wait to make some outfits for my daughter. I'll be snuggling her all the time!

Does anyone know if JoAnns will stock a particular kind of yarn if you ask them to? Or Michaels, or AC Moore....they are all 3 minutes from my house...it's dangerous...like the Bermuda triangle, I can get lost so easily in there. lol

I am jealous. I went to JoAnns today and someone had beat me there. Every single .97 skein was gone and so were the .50 ones. I was sad but there is always the Herrschners warehouse..I am going tomorrow as an anniversary present to myself...haven't told hubby yet.

Firefly sale? Just the name of the next sales week, lol! Like a summer thing, a lot of stuff is on sale (mostly sewing and fabric) and there are 50% coupons as opposed to the 40% coupons. I think it starts on the 17th and runs through the 23rd. I got a flyer at the store with the coupons. Honestly, I like the 10% off total purchase more, lol! But it's not going on this upcoming week. You can probably view the upcoming ad online (I'm not sure..haven't checked it out).

I was at my JoAnn's Tuesday nite and all the good clearance stuff was cleaned out. I did get one skein of novelty yarn for .50. My budget and the size of my stash helped me to resist temptation.
