Hats!

In the last few months I've started making hats almost as second nature. All the patterns are my own design, and I have a lot of fun figuring out how to adjust the hats for various head sizes.

I'm going to post links instead of pictures because there's quite a few hats to see.

My "hey, I have all this bright yarn and nothing to do with it", wide-brim hat:

My obligatory cloche hat:

My "Bump-stitch" hat as I've taken to calling it. I don't have a proper name for it:

My first attempt at a spike-stitch hat, and boy can you tell:

Two shots of my flip-brim hat so you can see it with the brim up and the brim down:

A super-fast, super-bulky hat made with my trusty P-hook:

I threw a few hdc into this hat to make it look a little different. It's slightly big on me, but it covers my ears:

A very chic beret, if I do say so myself. :):

And I'll actually post one picture because it's properly sized. This is my favorite hat so far:

And this link takes you to a picture of a non-fuzzy version:

I make other things as well, but hats are my obsession right now.

Your hats have been progressing nicely. ;D I meant to tell you the first hat was nice when i saw it on lj, but I don't know if I was logged on at the time to post my thoughts. It would be really nice in a solid color with one of those wide ribbons just above where the brim starts (kinda like some of stitchdiva's hats) and a crocheted flower to cover where you have to stitch the ribbon together. It could look very Jackie-O.

Ooh, I like that idea! My next trick for the wide-brim is to make it with a hemp/wool blend to see how it stands up, but I'll definietly put the ribbon idea to use.

You have been busy! I like the bump stitch one and the fuzzy version on the last one. Your spike stitch hat looked fine to me!

There's a couple of places in the spiked stitch hat where the stitch crosses over itself. I like the design, I just need to keep a close eye on the way my stitches lay [lie?].

We may need an intervention soon - how about some scarves to match all those hats? :)

Your hats are very nice, I do like the first one (although perhaps in different colours) and I can see why the last one is your favourite - I like it a lot, too!

Working on scarf ideas, actually. I want scarves just as fun as the hats.

I want to work up the first hat in a dark blue or dark red, I think. Perhaps black if I can find it.

Wow, these are great! I really like the non-fuzzy version of your favorite one, too, and the beret, and the first one. Awesome!

Really great hats! If you go ahead with the hemp/wool idea: I made a purse using hemp (with acrylic yarn) and my daughters said it smelled bad. I didn't think the smell was offensive at all; so sniff first!

I will certainly keep that in mind. If nothing else, a touch of Febreeze could probably lessen the effect.

Great hats, Gayle! I especially like the beret, myself. Do you have patterns written up?

I understand your being obsessed with hats. I'm like that too. Right now my obsession is scarves. For a long time it was baby afghans. Next will be either hats or slippers (I hate that there's TWO to make with slippers!).
