Can't help there. But I'm reminiscent of my Upstate NY days. My parents are still in Albany, and I went to university in Binghamton.

I hope you didn't get all that snow that was forecast...

Hi!

Yes, the weather has been, um, erratic to say the least. One day it was 70 degree F. and three days later we got 4 inches of snow. Ugh! :evil

I thought I would "repost" this, since there are so many more members now--anybody near Rochester, NY?

I started Kindergarten in Saratoga Springs. We lived at the top of a hill near a woman named Pam who was an amatuer jockey and had a huge dog, a great dane I think.... I have a lot of good memories from there, like dad having to force his way out the back door so he could shovel the front porch off enough to get the door open. Then we had a snow slide from the porch railing to the ground, and my little sister went down it, walked a few feet away and fell through the snow, it was so deep that you could only see the top of her hat when she jumped up!!!:lol

Sorry, I am in Upstate NY but in the Adirondacks on Lake Champlain. Would love to "Meetup" with other crocheters but not enough for a meeting here either. I guess that this area is not populated enough for gatherings to succeed. We just got our first LYS in years in P'burgh. Before that it was just WM, Michaels and JA. Anyone out there going to the CGOA Conference in N.H. next week? I'm looking forward to it.

hi Michelle,

Oh how I wished I was still in Rochester! I was staying in Henrietta for nearly 3 years . We moved back to India 4 years ago as this is my home town:) Where are exactly you Michelle? I used to shop shop in Pittsford Michaels or the Marketplace Michaels. miss those yarn shops a lot!

Take care

Hugs

Hi Vims! It's nice to meet someone who was near me! I wish you still were . I live In Avon, and worked for about 8 years at the Borders in Henrietta (right in the Micheal's plaza). I shop at Michael's all the time now (thank god I didn't crochet when I was working at borders--that would have been very costly!).

Take care in India!

Living in Kingston, NY......not exactly close to Rochester. Kingston is about 50 mi south of Albany and 100 miles north of NYC, in the wonderful Hudson Valley. Happy crocheting:danc

Hello Everyone,

I live in Canandaigua, NY. For people around Rochester, the crochet meet-up group has transferred to yahoo groups. It is just starting up. Check it out. I think we all will be meeting soon. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Rochester_NY_Crochet_Group/messages

Hey thanks, and welcome! :D

Sadly, I was burned by Yahoo, and cancelled my account with them about two years ago. Wish I could join you, but I'm not using their services anymore -- you couldn't pay me. ;) *sigh*

Hi Again, fellow Rochester area people. I just noticed that Shellybro is from Avon (I'm from Canandaigua) and I have a work site in Lima! A small group is starting to re-form in the area to crochet together monthly in public. If anyone is interested, I will let you know the details when I find out.

By the way, ZingyZoid, thanks for the welcome when I first introduced myself. I attended college in Syracuse and am frequently in that area visiting friends. It's a small world.

You're welcome for the welcome... :) I'm not new to the internet but I still think it's so cool when you all of the sudden find someone and you actually know or have been to the place that they live. I'm always like "Oh my gosh I know where that is!" :lol

I am originally from a little town near Ithaca called Trumansburg. Ever heard of it? I lived there for 34 years until I moved to Knoxville, TN 3 years ago. I love TN and certainly do not miss the cold, snowy, dreary weather of Upstate New York.:yay

Hi Kim,

I certainly have heard of Trumansburg! I have been through it when traveling around Ithaca. It's such a beautiful area. Incidentally, however, it was in the 30's yesterday on May 3. :wbrr I get the impression you are enjoying the climate in Tennessee!
