First Design - Child's Mini-sweater

I crocheted this up on a whim without any formal pattern. I needed to make something quickly as a 10th birthday gift for my daughter's friend. I just embellished it as I went along.

The inspiration came from Stephanie Japel's knitted boobholder pattern. I wanted to create something that was crocheted from the top down in one piece. I also wanted it to tie in the front. It also had to be crocheted fast as the party was in two days.

Although I've been knitting and crocheting for over 30 years, this is the first time I've sat down and made something without a pattern. I'm already thinking about an idea for a funky ladies crocheted vest.

I have to thank my very patient 9 year old daughter who kept trying it on for me to get the right fit!

The colour on my camera is kinda wonky - I took these photos quickly as the sweater was on it's way to the party!
