Christmas present update! (Let's share how many more things we have to finish!!!)

Recommended Posts

Since many of us are making tons of Christmas presents this year and Dec 25th less than a month away, I thought it would be neat to see how many projects we have to finish yet!

As for me, I am finishing up the 35 granny afghan for my niece.

2 pillows

A prayer shawl

A purse

Assortment of bookmarks

(Considering I made well over 30 items this year so far for Christmas, this isn't bad!)

How about you? How many more til you're finished? :hook

So far I have completed 3 of the 4 lapghans for the nursing home residents. (pictures soon), 2 felted totes, 1 shawl to go in tote (1 left to do). Now I'm contemplating on whether I want to attempt ornaments for the people I work with. I think I'm doing OK!

I still have 2 hat & scaf sets. Of course I may still do some other things. I really can't stop until Christmas.

So far FO's

3 shawls

2 shrugs

afghan

2 ponchos

4 purses

10 scarves

mittens

4 baby hats

I think I may have forgotten a few items. I started in August. But I never get tired of crocheting!

I still have one afghan (it's about 1/2 done), mittens and scarf (to go with a finished hat!), a Toddler "SOMETHING?!" (probably either sweater or poncho) and a Child's "SOMETHING?" Likely either a poncho or winter set (hat, scarf, mittens.) I'd LIKE to maybe complete another item or two, but those are things that REALLY need to be finished.

SIGH...

Let's see--these include both the gifts I was commissioned to make and also a couple of the gifts I'd like to make for other people.

Small felted bag for Sassa: done

Mohair scarf for Sally: done

Mohair scarf for Marga: done

Seaman's scarf for Mary Lu: done

Two mohair scarves and two pins for Melissa: done x 4

Large felted bag for Queenie: done, just drying now

Mohair scarf for Ginny: not yet started

Sari scarf for mom: just barely started

Big felted bag for mom: ready to assemble, pre-felting

Cashmerino scarves for Warren, Sinclair, and Toby: not even started! haven't even bought the materials!

I'd still like to make at least one more felted bag for a friend, but since I'm coming into the busiest part of my semester (papers and exams to grade), I'll have a lot less free time. Looks like the men will get their scarves as New Year's presents!

To finish:

-2 purses

-a baby poncho

-a hat, possibly a 2nd

-a toddler hat

-possibly another small project or two

That doesn't sound like too much, but keep in mind that my boyfriend and I area also making a ton of homemade bath and body products for gifts and we haven't even gotten the supplies in the mail for that yet. :eek

Well, I have to be careful what I write, because my big sis sometimes browses through to see what I'm up to. So, I'm going to list it by person (with the gift if secrecy is not important):

Mom: placemats and wonky scarf--done

Big sis and her hubby: 1 big project done, 2nd will be done tonight

BIL-scarf--not even started

Lil sis: scrunchies--2 done, 2 to go

Neice: scrunchies, fun fur scarf-- 4 scrunchies done, scarf done

Lori: ruffle scarf--done

T: turtle potholder--not started

Nephew: tie--just needs to be sewn; scarf--not done

Monica--would love tomake her a shawl, and maybe I can still get it done

I think that was all that was on my list. I wanted to make felted tote bags for several women, but got sidetracked so they will be made for next year.

Whew! This week I finished a ginormous felted bag for my mom (never will I make something that big again to be felted!), a mohair spiral scarf for my friend Ginny, and a sari yarn scarf for my mom as well.

That leaves:

Small felted bag for Brooke

Sari scarf for Gary to give to his mom

And maybe, maybe a shawl for Melissa, if I can find the right yarn for the job.

I know I probably won't get around to making the herringbone plaid scarf for my stepdad, but what I'll do is package up a photograph of the scarf from the pattern book & promise it to him for sometime in January!

The cashmerino scarves I promised to Sinclair and Tobe will probably get made on the plane as I fly from California to Montreal to meet them!
