Finish off leaving ends somewhat long for antennas,

Tail: Measure and cut about 88” to 100” inches of thread (I usually wrap it around a note book 4 or 5 times). From wrong side of butterfly insert hook in starting hole going to the front and around the butterfly’s body and then insert hook back into starting hole so the hook is again on the wrong side. Fold yarn is half over hook, pull up a loop, using both strands together chain until you have about 5” to 6” inches of thread left.

Tassel: Cut about 5-10”inch strands of black and 5-10” inch strands of the butterfly’s color. Insert hook in last chain made, fold strands of thread in half over hook, pull up a loop, Take hook out of loop and pull loose threads through the loop and pull taut. Make a knot to secure tassel. Trim to desired length.

Enjoy!!!!

Thank you so much Champygirl, for the free Butterfly bookmark patterns! I really like them both but think I like the single one best. I saved it for a time when I am less backed up and intend to make a few for my sisters who love to read.

Love those butterflys! Since I'm an "old-fashioned reader" (I prefer my REAL books over my Nook), I love bookmarks. I must admit that the Nook does solve a space/storage problem though. My real plan for the Nook, is to make a portable crochet pattern device. LOL

I really like these! I love to make bookmarks, although I have found out not many of my friends read like I do. I make them and then leave them sitting in bookstores with a little note attached that reads, "Made with love by Rose for anybody who finds this. Hope you enjoy!" I try to make different ones and leave them in different sections to coordinate with the bookmark. Weird, huh?! lol
