Baby Gifts

I had a nephew born earlier this month and just finished a little gift set for him. This is my first attempt at booties and hats. It's not a great picture and doesn't show the blanket well at all. :blush Everything was made with unlabeled baby yarn bought at the local thrift store.

I made this little blanket last month for a friend's first grandchild. The blanket I made with Lion Brand Pound of Love, about 18" x 30" in a shell stitch. The toy is made in Red Heart Kids that was leftover from one of my daughter's projects.

Very nice work! Aren't baby things fun?? In case you are interested, I believe the booties and blankie are made from Bernat Baby Coordinates. I have make a baby blanket with it, and it turned out unbelievably soft, and I just picked up a couple more skeins yesterday, the exact blue being one of them!

You did a great job. I love the afghan, the pale green is such a beautiful color. hard to believe this is your first pair of booties. I remember the first pair of booties I made. they were big enough for a toddler!:blush

You should be proud!:cheer

Thanks, Laurie!

I'll make a note of that yarn. I'm glad to hear it's so soft. I was worried about it while I was working with it; it seemed a little rougher than the other baby yarn I'd been using. I liked working with it once I got used to the feel.

Thank you, everyone! I haven't heard from the recipients at all, so I've been nervous that maybe they didn't turn out all that well. Reading your comments today really made me smile. :c9

Several people have asked about the patterns I used. I gathered all the links. I did make a few changes to each of them as I worked, though. ;)

The blue blanket is a diagonal blanket with an edging I made up as I went along. :P I kept this one small enough for a car seat and it's not quite square so that it's easier to tuck in.

The hat is based on a pattern from Angelcrafts. It is Lyn's SC Baby Cap. I changed the edging and finished it with a round of reverse sc. (http://www.angelcrafts.net)

The booties are based on Bev's VERY Easy Booties . I have to say this pattern was great! (http://www.bevscountrycottage.com/bevsbooties2.html)

The toy is from Kelly Luljak's Baby Smiley Toy. I simply changed the yarn and didn't stitch the face on it. Very quick and I think I'll do a few more as dog toys for a friend. (http://members.iglou.com/mantia/crafts/smile.html)

The light green blanket is based on the Lion Brand Crocheted Hooded Baby Blanket (http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/cpl-bafg.html)

I didn't make the hood or eding on it and stopped at 28" x 30". It is so soft!!

I actually stopped a woman with a newborn in a car seat in the store to ask if I could borrow the seat a moment to drape the blanket over to see how my sizing was coming along. My children are all well out of car seats and I had no idea how close to finishing I was. Turns out my mind's eye was making it much larger than I really wanted, so I finished that row, and called it done! :(:D
