we here in columbus ohio "celebrate" columbus day on Monday....

 

columbus the explorer or columbus the city--no one seems to know.

 

the holiday seems to come up like this:

 

at work, your coworker says to you, "enjoy the holiday weekend!!"

you say, "thanks, you too" with a screwed up, confused look on your face, but you think, "what?......holiday??.....hm"

then it hits you when you're halfway home....."huh...must be columbus day"

 

Ohio State conveniently observes Columbus Day the day after thanksgiving---when most people have the day off anyway--oh quarter system. Glad I'm outta that mess.

We have a good friend who always celebrates Canadian Thanksgiving (albiet the Saturday before). He just had us over to his house last night and we had a meal and a half!
