Our House [Archive 3]

Hello fellow granny square artists I haven't had much time lately to work on crochet or even visit the board. We have been searching for a house to move to. Finally found one. Now I have to focus on packing and moving so I'll still be MIA most of the time. After I un-joined what I had joined I started the joining over with black yarn and since I like it much better I've been re-joining everything. The first time I joined I was working the horizontal rows, but Iv'e decided to work vertical first this time. I have 6 rows completed and I really wish I had more time to work on it because it's really taking shape and I'm wanting it done NOW..lol. It will earn a special place in our new home.

We too are having rainy gloomy weather and though it was warm yesterday it's cooled off quite a bit today. I desperately want spring to be here, really be here.

I'm glad to see everyone else is progressing so well. Glad to hear you had a good check up Linda.

I'll try to check in as often as I can in between everything else. Everyone else's pics and progress keep me motivated, lol.

Hope everyone is having a great day.

Best wishes on getting all your packing done in good time. When is the move? If I lived nearer I'd come over and help. I'm pretty good at packing things, if I do say so myself. Lots of practice.

Mary, glad the rough stuff missed you. It's always scary when Mother Nature decides to throw a tantrum.

Hi Ladies. :)

Shelli, congratulations on finding a house! We'll be here when you have time to come in and talk. :hug I'm glad you found a joining method you like and that it's going well. :crocheting

Linda, DD's first car was an Escort with a stick shift. She loved it and only sold it because she had to do a lot of traveling with her first job after college. We lived in Houston when she learned to drive...the city is flat as a pancake. I took her to a parking garage to teach her how to shift gears going up and down hills. :lol

Truly - Granny Square Artists? :scrachin Yes. I think I like that very much :D

That is great! I've never been called any kind of artist before. ;)

Hello Cara. I am trying to decide what to work on today, been watching "The Thorn Birds" while deciding, but I am almost asleep. :D:hook

Oh, I love The Thorn Birds...it's been a long time since I've seen it. :think

My DD's first car was a stick shift, too. I took her to an empty parking lot to teach her how to drive it. I didn't think of a parking garage for the hills, though. She had to make do with our hilly streets. It didn't take her long to master it.

I learned to drive in a '65 VW Bug. As small as it was, I still flunked the parallel parking test. :blush

I'm on a Spring cleaning kick - wonder how long it will last? :lol I'll reward myself with crochet time later. :hook Hmmm, it's been forever since I bought any yarn...

Hey Mary... My dream car is a 65 VW bug! :c9 I had one in highschool.. rag-top... oh.. it was the best car to have here in Hawaii. All the boys were in awe of my souped-up Bug (thanks to older brothers who tinkered with my bug).

Thanks for the flashback!

I made the Pinwheel one that does not have a picture on it yet. My computer at home is down and I have been trying to find a way to get a picture to Cara. I made it in white, blues and burgandy/pink.

I am now starting another one, will have to wait until I get home to get the name of it. It is another one that just has a graph. It is the one that is white, blue, red and yellow.

These are going to my sister-in-laws when we meet in June for a family reunion.

I am then going to make the calliope for me in the purples and blue.

Morning everyone

Shelli hope all goes well with the move. Congratulations on finding a house, I know how daunting that can be. Im glad you have found a way to put the squares together that your comfortable with.

Cara hows it going with your projects.

Tabby your going so well with your crochet, its great to see.:yay

Mary I hadnt bought any crochet in ages and then yesterday I bought some and sneaked it in the house and hid it in my cupboard.

Dizzy welcome to the group, wow you sure have been busy, cant wait to see your finished items. Can I ask your name as its more friendly that way.

Well still busy with the ripples, might do more on the picture quilt on the weekend. I found a great pattern book by Leisure arts called perfect patch and it has some beautiful square patterns inside, but they are done as a 3 row saltine which I guess you couldnt call a saltine anymore. I might make one and just do it as a 2 row.

Its pouring with rain here, isnt that fantastic.:yay

Hmmm, yet another wasted afternoon spent asleep :irk These new pills are really knocking me out but they are helping the pain so I'll accept the sleepiness for now :lol Plus, the drowsiness usually passes within two weeks in my experience.

Anyhoo....off to try a few saltines before supper. :hook

Wendy - My project isn't going at all at the moment :( The purse is giving me fits so I put it aside. I was doing squares but then I've been quite distressed for the last 3 days over the site being down so that isn't going well. :sigh But things are looking up! BD has fixed the old site where I broke it :blush So that should be up hopefully by tomorrow night. Then he'll work on the new and improved (but definitely not prettier :lol) site that I won't be able to break :P

So since I slept the entire afternoon away and got sidetracked before supper I'm behind. Well, I guess not exactly behind because I don't have a schedule. But BD has explained some things to me and he's working very hard on the website for me :yes Hopefully, life will be back to normal very soon :D

I have a question I hope someone can answer...I'm making my first quiltghan and I'm doing the baby gingham one and the directions say to join them using the appropriate color...when I've got two different colored squares to join how do I decide which one is appropriate? Or does it even matter?

Actually it doesn't really matter. The general "rule" is to use the lighter of the two colors but I use whichever one I have the most of :D

hello everyone. sorry I haven't had a chance to read through the posts I've missed... this past weekend has been pretty bad for me... my depression is getting worse I think .. all I seem to do is cry for no reason... I didn't do any crocheting at all ... all I did was read (6 novels since friday) and sleep... I seemed to stay awake all night and sleep most of the day... I went to one of my DR today (the one who deals with the diabetes and growth on my adrenal gland) and she is making an appointment with either a psycologist or psychiatrist.. I can't remember which she said right now... I also have to go to see a nutritionist for more help with my diabetes.... I just wanted to stop in and say hello.. I will try to get on tomorrow and catch up but I'm really dragged out from today... night

I find it doesnt matter so long as you use one of the 2 colors of the squares to sew them together.
