Summer 2009 Snowflake Quartet

Here are the next four snowflake patterns, my friends. Top left is the June snowflake, top right is the July snowflake, bottom left is the August snowflake, bottom right is the September snowflake. All four snowflakes were made using a size 7 steel crochet hook and size 10 crochet thread. All four snowflakes are about 3" in diameter.

 

Abbreviations:

 

ch = chain

sl st = slip stitch

sp = sace

sc = single crochet

hdc = half double crochet

dc = double crochet

tc = triple crochet

dtc = double triple crochet

ttc = triple triple crochet

3ttccl = 3 triple triple crochet cluster

 

Special Stitches:

 

3 Triple Triple Crochet Cluster: Work 3 triple triple crochet stitches retaining last loop of each stitch on the hook. Yarn over and pull through all 4 loops on the hook.

 

June 2009 Snowflake: (Top Left Snowflake)

 

Ch 4, join with sl st in first ch to form ring.

 

Round 1: Ch 1, 12 sc in ring, join with sl st in 1st sc.

 

Round 2: Ch 4, dtc in next sc, ch 5, *dtc in each of next 2 sc, ch 5,* repeat around ending with sl st in top ch of starting ch 4.

 

Round 3: Ch 1, sc in same sp, sc in next dtc, 5 sc in ch 5 loop, *sc in each of next 2 dtc, 5 sc in ch 5 loop,* repeat around ending with sl st in 1st sc.

 

Round 4: Ch 1, sc in same st, *sc in next sc, dc in next sc, 2 tc in next sc, {2dtc, ch 4, sl st in 1st ch, ch 4, sl st in 1st ch, ch 4, sl st in top of 2nd dtc), dtc} in next sc, 2 tc in next sc, dc in next sc, sc, in next sc.* repeat around ending with sl st in 1st sc.

Fasten off, starch and block.

 

July 2009 Snowflake: (Top Right Snowflake)

 

Ch 6, join with sl st in 1st ch to form ring.

 

Round 1: Ch 1, 12 sc in ring, join with sl st in 1st sc.

 

Round 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in same sp, *3 dc in next sc,* repeat around ending with sl st in 2 ch of beginning ch 2. (36 dc)

 

Round 3: Ch 4,*skip next dc, dc in next dc, ch 2,* repeat around ending with sl st in 2nd ch of beginning ch 4. (18 ch 2 sp)

 

Round 4: Ch 1, sc in same sp, *(hdc, dc) in next ch 2 sp, tc in next dc, [dtc, 3ttccl, ch 5, hook through the 4 loops of the 3ttccl, yo, pull through all loops on hook, dtc] in next ch 2 sp, tc in next dc, (dc, hdc) in next ch 2 sp, sc in next dc,* repeat around ending with sl st in 1st sc.

 

Fasten off, starch, and block.

 

August 2009 Snowflake: (Bottom Left Snowflake)

 

Ch 3, sl st in 1st ch of form ring.

 

Round 1: Ch 1, 6 sc in ring, join with sl st in 1st sc.

Round 2: Ch 2, dc in same sp, *ch 2, 2 dc in next sc,* repeat around ending with ch 2, sl st in 2nd ch of beginning ch 2.

 

Round 3: Ch 3, tc in same sp, 2 tc in next dc, *ch 4, 2 tc in of next 2 dc,* repeat around ending with ch 4, join with sl st in 3rd ch of starting ch 3.

 

Round 4: Ch 3, skip 2 tc, tc in next tc, ch 5, sl st in top of tc, ch 6, sc in ch 4 sp, ch 6, *tc in 1st and 4th tc of next set of 4 tc, ch 5, sl st in top of last 2 tc, ch 6, sc in ch 4 sp, ch 6,* repeat around ending with sl st in top of beginning ch 3.

 

Fasten off, starch, and block.

 

September 2009 Snowflake: (Bottom Right Snowflake)

 

Ch 4, join with sl st in 1st ch to form ring.

 

Round 1: Ch 1, 12 sc in ring, join with sl st in 1st sc.

 

Round 2: Ch 1, sc in same sp, *ch 8, sc in next sc, sc in next sc,*, repeat around ending with sl st in beginning sc.

 

Round 3: Sl st in 1st 4 ch of ch 8, sl st in loop, sc in loop, *ch 4, dtc in same loop,ch 6, sl st in top of dtc, dtc in next loop, ch 4, sc in same loop,* repeat around ending with sl st in beginning sc.

 

Fasten off, starch, and block.

Thank you so much for posting and sharing. I will add these to my collection. This year will be a snowflake year as soon as I get my "have to" projects caught up. Then it's all stuff for me. Yay!!!!!! and these will definately be on the list.

Hi, I'm new to this web site. So far since Dec. I have made 69 snow flakes. I am absolutely bonkers for snow flakes. My family thinks I have flipped out, gone off the deep end, etc. I haven't made an original one yet. I realy want to but lack the confidence I guess. Darlene
