this is my FIRST pattern so please be nice :D as i no you will

i have had it tested by some wonderfull ladies here SHERYL

naidascrochet houseplantgirl and i am sure there were others please forgive me if i have forgotton you

they were fantastic pattern testers and a GREAT help in writting my first

But please tell me if i have missed something :crocheting

Mr Wotsit - Skill level Intermediate

Please read the pattern BEFORE starting to avoid confusion

Mr Wotsit doesn’t stand up, you may be able to use pellets to get him to stand, go on I challenge you ;)

8ply yarn -light worsted….you can use any thickness, just adjust the hook to get tight stitches

I am not sure how much yarn I used but you can easily make 2 out of 100 gm ball

3.5mm hook or hook for tight stitches

Stuffing

7mm eyes

Embroidery cotton or yarn for mouth and nose

Yarn needle

Optional - felt for embellishment

Stitch markers - scrap bits of yarn

Stitches used:

Chain - ch

Single - Crochet sc

Slip stitch- sl st

Single Crochet - increase sc inc

Single Crochet - decrease sc dec

Each - ea

Use a stitch marker to keep track of the end of each row

Body - do not join work in rounds

Row 1: Ch 2, 6 sc in 1st ch - 12sc

Row 2: 2 sc in ea sc -12 sc

Row 3: 1 sc in next sc, Inc in next sc, repeat around -18 sc

Row 4: 1 sc in next 2 sc, Inc in next sc, repeat around -24 sc

Row 5: 1 sc in next 3 sc, Inc in next sc, repeat around -30 sc

Row 6 - 13: 1 sc in ea sc -

How you going with it ??

The next part is making the front of Mr Wotsit and the narrowing of the chest part of the body J

Please read the next part of the pattern before continuing

To help you keep track of where you are, place a marker in the stitch you are on now and then place a marker 26 stitches around. You will sc in each of the next 26 sc until you get to the other marker and then gradually decreasing in the other stitches s left on the row. Leave the stitch markers there until you get to the end of the body

As you go around the gaps between the stitch markers will get smaller

Row 14 -18: 1 sc in the next 26 sc (until the marker) *1 sc in next 2 sc, dec repeat from *

*Stuff the body as yo go

Row 19: dec 5 times evenly around the round

Row 20: dec 4 times evenly around the round

Row 21: dec 3 times evenly around the round

Row 22: dec 2 times evenly around the round

Row 23- 40:1 sc in each sc FO

Head

You are starting with the front of the face

Row 1: Ch 2, 6 sc in 1st ch

Row 2: 2 sc in ea sc - 12sc

Row 3: 1 sc in next sc, inc, repeat around -18 sc

Row 4: 1 sc in next 2 sc, inc, repeat around - 20 sc

Row 5: 1 sc in next 3 sc, inc, repeat around -25 sc

Insert eyes on round 5 - use photo as a quide for placement

Row 6-10 1 sc in ea sc, repeat around - 25sc

Row 11: 1 sc in next 3sc, dec - 21sc

Stuff head as the opening gets smaller

Row 12: 1 sc in next 2sc, dec - 15 sc

Row 13: 1 sc in next 1sc, dec - 11 sc

If there is a hole to large to sew up, dec each stitch, sew up hole, do not cut yarn because you will need it to sew onto body

Ears

Row 1: ch 2, 8sc in 1st ch

Row 2: 1sc in next sc, inc, repeat around

Row 3-4: 1 sc in ea sc around

Row 5: 1 sc in next sc, dec, repeat around

Row 6- 12: 1 sc in ea sc

You may put a little stuffing in the ears if you wish

You can make the ears longer or shorter if you wish

Scarf

12 lengths yarn 30- 40cm long

Plait them

yay!!! i am soo in love with this little guy and have been since you first showed him. thanks for sharing. I know a cute little nephew who will be getting one soon. :yes

He's awesome! I think he would make a great baby gift. His neck seems to be perfect size for little hands! I would just embroider the eyes too!

 

I could see a rattle stuffed in either his head or his bottom for a baby! Snag an old rattle from goodwill or make one! Neat idea!:clap

as mama would've said 'he's so ugly he's actually cute' That is a compliment, by the way :D! I'll be making him up and setting him with my other critters. Thanks for sharing. You did a good job!
