Single Crochet from A to Z

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I just wanted to let everyone know I have a new book out. The book shows 26 different ways to make a single crochet stitch. The sample squares are then sewn together into an afghan and pillow.

Examples of the types of Single Crochet Stitches included which are familiar include:

B = Bead Single Crochet

H = Hump Single Crochet

P = Post Single Crochet

R = Reverse Single Crochet

T = Thermal Single Crochet

There are many other, probably less familiar, single crochet stitches included as well.

There is a single crochet stitch method for each letter of the alphabet.

The book is called Single Crochet from A to Z and can be found at http://www.anniesattic.com/detail.html?prod_id=21702

Would love to hear some feed back about the book.

Annie's Attic is having some kind of problem, they are trying to work

it out. In the meantime, the book is available on Ebay and I also

found it in a knitting store if you would like to see photos. The ebay

one shows more photos than the other site.

Hi Bendy.

I am making a hooded sweater from "Cute Crochet for Kids" by Diane

England pg 6-9. It uses a Puff stitch as follows:

Row 1: (RS) sc in first st and in each st across row, ch 1 turn.

Row 2: (WS) Bsc in first st and in each st across, ch 1, turn.

NOte: this is not reverse single crochet.

The stitch is explained as:

1. Insert the hook in the stitch from the back to the front of the

piece.

2. Yarn over and pull up the loop.

3. Yarn over and pull through both loops on the hook as for regualr

single crochet.

I don't see the "puff" when I do this. There is a raised ridge on

the RS. Would it make a differnce where my yarn is when I insert my

hook?

Any help would be appreciated. I would like to finish this for

Christmas!!!!

Thank you,

Emily

Hi Emily,

Are there any other instructions? If you place the yarn in front and insert the hook from the back to the front to work the single crochet stitch, you are just working a left handed single crochet stitch. If you place the yarn in back and insert the hook from the back to the front, you get an extra horizontal strand across the back when you bring the yarn to the front to make the single crochet stitch. Are they calling that extra horizontal strand a bump? I don't have the book.

Hi Everyone,

My new book PLUS SIZE CROCHET, was just released Nov 1st and I have just been told by my publisher that it is already going into a second printing. It is available on amazon or in book stores like Barnes and Noble. Thanks to all who have purchased it already.

  • 11 months later...

I didn't know that single crochet could be done in so

many different ways. I purchased this book a couple of weeks ago and I'm anxious to get started. I'm planning on using a lot of the patterns for my charity squares:)
