Bread Bags Into a Handbag!

Bags seem to be your speciality, but have you ever made a welcome mat! Plarn seems like a great medium for that since they could be hosed off...

I have made some rugs but I'm better at the bags. The rugs are wonderful though as you say, because they can just be hosed off when they get dirty.

Love this bag too Cindy! But I am very intrigued by the rugs/welcome mats ....could you possibly post a picture or atleast a pattern for one? I saw someplace on line that a strand of yarn or string should be worked with the plastic throughout......did you do that? I want to try an oval shape like this one

Or one like this

I don't have a pattern for one but I believe you should be able to use plarn to make the first one you linked from "About." Just follow the pattern for fabric strips and I would use the big N hook too. As for weaving with yarn and plastic together, it should work. Sorry but I don't have a pictures or patterns yet on these mats. I'll have to add them to my to-do list.

Cool!! (Uh oh think I just dated myself.) Now I have to go around and ask all my friends and neighbors to save their bread bags for me. AND find a place to store them. This room gets smaller everyday.

Anyhow, a terrific idea, thanks for sharing.

Very nice - do you tie the plastic strips together to form a big ball or cut slits into the ends of each one & loop over??

I cut my bags into circular loops about 5/8 inch wide just like I do the plastic bag plarn. Here is a link to a picture tutorial to help. You do it just the same and intertwine the strips (loops) to knot them together until you have a big ball to crochet with.
