Yes, exactly. On the white one I did 40 chains, and upped it to 43 on the plum colored one. If I do another, I'll try 50 chains. I used whatever hook size the pattern called for. The circumference was easy... I just kept trying to put in around my head until it fit, then slip-stitched the two sides together. The ear flaps were done separately and then whipstitched on.
