First amigurumi -- octopus

I'm excited to post my first ever amigurumi, and my third crochet project. Meet Fruity Oaty Bar Octopus, inspired by the movie Serenity and given as a gift to a good friend. (You can see the original here.) I'm happy with how he turned out, and my friend didn't realize I made it myself, which means it turned out a bit better than I thought!

 

 

For full effect, you need to see him with his tentacles hanging down...

 

 

The color is truer on the second picture. I used Patons Melody in Mango, which is somewhere between pink and orange.

That's funny -- I don't know that I've ever been called creative before... maybe this is the start of something new for me. I had seen a pattern for an octopus whose head was just a ball. I decided to make the head more elongated to make it look more like the octopus in the movie. It took a little trial and error, but I think it turned out well.
