AG doll bolero

Recommended Posts

I made this as a birthday gift for my granddaughter. I used a sewing pattern from a book of doll patterns as a template. (http://www.amazon.com/Sew-Contemporary-Wardrobe-18-Inch-Dolls/dp/0873493753 If you "look inside" you can see on the contents page the one is used, the black jacket over the teal dress. i just left off the sleeves) I started with the front pieces and used the armhole as the beginning of my curve. Increased as i worked out. the st patt is a mesh of dc and bobble sts. for the back i used the neckline as the beginning of the curve. I did not try to completely match the sewing pattern, but it gave me a general shape and size to aim for.

The thread is Aunt Lydia's Bamboo size 10. It feels almost TOO light at times when working with it, like it is hard to control. but once blocked (wet and laid out flat to dry) it feels really supple and flowy. I would like to make myself a summer top out of it.

My friend brought a doll to our stitching group so I could try on the partially finished bolero and I was really glad to see it did fit!
