My grandaughter Abby had her tonsil and adnoids out and tubes put in her ears on Monday. I visited her on Tuesday and gave her the sock monkey hat. Here is a picture of her in it. She is in kindergarden, turned six a bit ago.

Bernat denim yarn is perfect (imho) for making sock monkey hats. Comes in lots of colors. I found mine at Hobby Lobby, but probaby bigger Joann's would carry it as I've seen it online there.
