Different Kinda Grannyghan (3 images) (Updated with pics)

Please Read: I do not own a digital camera. I had a real hard time getting a picture of this that showed it had a layered look to it, its much much much prettier in person.

This is a variation off my Different Kinda Granny Square pattern, the difference between the two is that this is quite a bit bigger and has a rectangular shape. When I made mine I used Red Heart Supersaver yarn in White (CA), Petal Pink (CB), and Light Raspberry (CC). This looks really pretty draped over a couch or a chair because it has a layered look to it. If anyone finds any errors please give me a pm, this is my very first afghan pattern.

Materials:

Worsted Weight yarn in 3 different colors in the following amounts: 2 skeins in CA, 1 Skein in CB, 2 Skeins CC. Each skein is 7oz (364 yards).

Size H hook (5.00mm)
Yarn Needle (to weave in ends)

Finish Size: 46”h x 37”w (about lapghan size)

Gauge: First two Rnds in pattern should measure 2” inches widthwise.

Note: Beginning ch3 counts as dc except for Rnds that are just ch3 loops.

There’s a chart at the end of the pattern if you have any problems with the first 3 rnds.

Directions:

Rnd 1: With CA ch33, 1 dc in 5th chain from hook (this will leave the first 4 chains free, they count as a ch4 space), 1 dc in each of the next 2 chains, [ch1 skip next chain, 1 dc in each of the next 3 chains] Do this 6 times, ! skip next chain, 1 dc in next chain.!
(21dc, 6-ch1 spaces, 2-ch4 spaces) (Stitches between ! and ! counts as ch4 space)

Rnd 2: Ch3, (2 dc, ch3, 3 dc, ch3, 3 dc) all in ch4 space, [ch1, skip next 3 dc, 3 dc in next ch1 space] Do this 6 times, ch1, skip next 3 dc, (3 dc, ch3, 3 dc, ch3, 3 dc) all in next ch4 space, [ch1, skip next 3 dc, 3 dc in next ch1 space] Do this 6 times, ch1, skip next 3 dc, join with sl st to top of beginning ch3.
(18 groups of 3dc, 14-ch1 spaces, 4-ch3 spaces)

Rnd 3: Sl st in each of the next 2 dc, sl st in next ch3 space, ch3, (2 dc, ch3, 3 dc) all in same ch3 space, ch1, skip next 3 dc, (3 dc, ch3, 3 dc) all in next ch3 space, [ch1, skip next 3 dc, 3 dc in next ch1 space] Do this 7 times, ch1, skip next 3 dc, (3 dc, ch3, 3 dc) all in next ch 3 space, ch1, skip next 3 dc, (3 dc, ch3, 3 dc) all in next ch3 space, [ch1, skip next 3 dc, 3 dc in next ch1 space] Do this 7 times, ch1, skip next 3 dc, join with sl st to top of beginning ch3.
(22 groups of 3 dc, 18-ch1 spaces, 4-ch3 spaces)

Rnd 4: Sl st in each of the next 2 dc, sl st in next ch3 space, ch3, (2 dc, ch3, 3 dc) all in same ch3 space, ch1, skip next 3 dc, 3 dc in next ch1 space, ch1, skip next 3 dc, (3 dc, ch3, 3dc) all in next ch3 space, [ch1, skip next 3 dc, 3 dc in next ch1 space] Do this 8 times, ch1, skip next 3 dc, (3 dc, ch3 3 dc) all in next ch3 space, ch1, skip next 3 dc, 3 dc in next ch1 space, ch1, skip next 3 dc, (3 dc, ch3, 3 dc) all in next ch3 space, ch1, skip next 3 dc, 3 dc in next ch1 space] Do this 8 times, ch1, skip next 3 dc, join with sl st to top of beginning ch3.
(26 groups of 3dc, 22-ch1 spaces, 4-ch3 spaces)

Rnd 5: Ch3, skip next dc, sl st in next dc, ch3, skip next ch3 space, sl st in next dc, [Ch3, skip next dc, sl st in next dc, ch3, skip next ch1 space, sl st in next dc] Do this 2 times, ch3, skip next dc, sl st in next dc, ch3, skip next ch3 space, sl st in next dc, [Ch3, skip next dc, sl st in next dc, ch3, skip next ch1 space, sl st in next dc] Do this 9 times, ch3, skip next dc, sl st in next dc, ch3, skip next ch3 space, sl st in next dc, [Ch3, skip next dc, sl st in next dc, ch3, skip next ch1 space, sl st in next dc] Do this 2 times, ch3, skip next dc, sl st in next dc, ch3, skip next ch3 space, sl st in next dc, [Ch3, skip next dc, sl st in next dc, ch3, skip next ch1 space, sl st in next dc] Do this 8 times, ch3, skip next dc, sl st in next dc, ch3, skip next ch1 space, join with sl st to joining sl st of Rnd 4.
(52-ch3 loops, 52 sl sts)

Finish off.

Note: The next Rnd is worked behind the ch3 loops and into the skipped ch3 spaces and skipped ch1 spaces on the Rnd before the ch3 loops Rnd. Do not work into any of the ch3 loops and sl sts.

Next Rnd is written as if working into the Rnd before last Rnd with no mention of ch3 loops or sl sts.

With CB

Rnd 6: Join yarn with sl st to any ch3 space, ch3, (2 dc, ch3, 3 dc) all in same ch3 space, {*[Ch1, skip next 3 dc, 3 dc in next ch1 space] repeat across until last ch1 space on this side is worked into, ch1, skip next 3 dc,* (3 dc, ch3, 3 dc) all in next ch3 space} Do this 3 times, Repeat from * to * once, join with sl st to top of beginning ch3.
(30 groups of 3dc, 26-ch1 spaces, 4-ch3 spaces)

Rnd 7: Sl st in each of the next 2 dc, sl st in next ch3 space, ch3, (2 dc, ch3, 3 dc) all in same ch3 space, {*[Ch1, skip next 3 dc, 3 dc in next ch1 space] repeat across until last ch1 space on this side is worked into, ch1, skip next 3 dc,* (3 dc, ch3, 3 dc) all in next ch3 space} Do this 3 times, Repeat from * to * once, join with sl st to top of beginning ch3.
(34 groups of 3dc, 30-ch1 spaces, 4-ch3 spaces)

Rnds 10-13: CC, Rnds 14-17: CA, Rnds 18-21: CB, Rnds 22-25: CC, Rnds 26-29: CA, Rnds 30-33: CB, Rnds 34-37: CC, Rnd 38-41: CA

Note: The next Rnd is worked behind the ch3 loops and into the skipped ch3 spaces and skipped ch1 spaces on the Rnd 40. Do not work into any of the ch3 loops and sl sts from Rnd 41.

Next Rnd is written as if working into the Rnd 40 with no mention of ch3 loops or sl sts.

Rnd 42: Join CA with sl st to any ch3 space, ch3, (2 dc, ch3, 3 dc) all in same ch3 space, {*[Ch1, skip next 3 dc, 3 dc in next ch1 space] repeat across until last ch1 space on this side is worked into, ch1, skip next 3 dc,* (3 dc, ch3, 3 dc) all in next ch3 space} Do this 3 times, Repeat from * to * once, join with sl st to top of beginning ch3.

(560sc, 4-ch2 spaces)

Finish off and weave in ends.
